Although it was released on the original Nintendo Switch, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate plays great on the new Nintendo Switch 2, thanks to backwards compatibility. Nintendo has already squashed a handful of bugs. You won’t see any huge frame rate or resolution boosts, but the game loads faster on the new hardware. So, you can get right into smashing your friends off the screen and into oblivion.
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is packed with stuff to do. Test your skills online. Use Spirits to buff your characters in the lengthy single-player campaign. Build your own stages and play mini-games like the home run contest. Or just marvel at how much love and attention director Masahiro Sakurai has put into honoring the many iconic gaming legends with hundreds of related stages and songs, too. We gave the game an Editors’ Choice award at launch, and it’s even better at a discounted price. So act fast.
