The Flip 1S generation is more than just an APU bump over last year’s Flip KB and Flip DS, though. For instance, Ayaneo claims to have overhauled the design of both variants to improve ergonomics, which was a point of complaint during our Flip KB review. Similarly, the company has optimised the button layout for this year’s models with larger ABXY buttons and TMR electromagnetic joysticks.
On top of that, the Flip 1S KB and Flip 1S DS leverage 7-inch OLED main displays with 144 Hz refresh rates paired with 45 Wh batteries. As a result, both variants will likely offer comparatively poor battery life, particularly in view of 80 Wh options like the ROG Ally X, MSI Claw 8 and the Aokzoe A1X. Currently, Ayaneo hopes to begin shipping units to Indiegogo backers in September 2025.
