While not a Prime Day laptop deal per se, Razer right now is running a promotion for the Razer Blade 14 (2025), arguably the all-around best gaming laptop on the market right now.
No matter which 14-inch configuration you select from the 2025 model, you’ll save between $300 and $400, which can really take some of the sting out of the otherwise premium price tag.

Good afternoon, folks! This is John, TechRadar’s US Computing Editor, and I’m here to help you through the second day of the Amazon Prime Day sales event.
I’m pulling together the best laptop deals I can find, as I find them, and bringing them to you to help you pick the best Prime Day deal for you on everything from gaming laptops to Chromebooks and MacBooks.
Acer Nitro V
Shopping for a new laptop on a tight budget this Prime Day, but still want something with decent gaming performance? Take a look at this deal:
If you don’t want to spend too much, the excellent Acer Nitro V is $100 off its already-affordable retail price, making it a solid choice for any budget-conscious gamer this Prime Day.
It’s not exactly earth-shattering in terms of specs, equipped with a reasonably powerful RTX 4050 GPU and Intel Core i7 processor, but that’s plenty for some 1080p gaming goodness. This is also a decent option for anyone who wants a gaming laptop that won’t stand out too much in a college or office environment; no obnoxious pulsing RGB lights here.
Asus ROG Strix G16
If you’re looking for a solid midrange gaming laptop, this is one to watch:
Having spent some time trawling through the sales, I can say that gaming laptops aren’t exactly enjoying the steepest discounts this Prime Day, but there are a few decent ones worth looking at.
One of these is the ROG Strix G16 from Asus, a mid-range performer with a premium-feeling chassis, currently 15% off at Amazon. With an RTX 5060 GPU, you’ll be able to take advantage of Nvidia’s latest DLSS 4 upscaling technology with Multi Frame Generation for dizzyingly high framerates. And with a 1TB Gen 4 M.2 SSD, you’ve got plenty of high-speed storage for all your games.
Asus TUF Gaming A16
One of the best gaming laptop deals I’ve seen so far this Prime Day isn’t even on Amazon – it’s actually from Best Buy:
In a world of overpriced gaming hardware and meager discounts, $300 off this excellent next-gen gaming laptop from Asus is an excellent deal. You’ll find cheaper laptops elsewhere (stay tuned, as I’ll be posting more on this very page shortly), but in terms of bang for your buck, the Asus TUF Gaming A16 is near unbeatable.
Powering this machine is an Nvidia GeForce RTX 5070 GPU, a powerhouse graphics card capable of delivering top-notch performance – especially when paired with the AMD Ryzen 9 CPU and 32GB of RAM you can find in the TUF A16.
If you’re looking for a laptop that can handle professional (or educational) creative workloads, or you simply crave high framerates in your games, this is an excellent pick.
Good morning to our readers in the US, and good afternoon to those here with me in the UK. Computing Editor Christian Guyton signing on, here to share some great deals on the best gaming laptops.
Why Prime Day is great for students going back to school
While we’re still a few months away from students going back to school, Prime Day is a great time to look at new laptops for the student in your life. As this live blog has hopefully demonstrated, there’s some fantastic deals on laptops right now.
My colleague Isaiah Williams has put together a great roundup of some of the best Amazon Prime Day laptop deals for students to get you started.
Now’s a great time to upgrade from Windows 10
As you might be aware, Microsoft is ending support for Windows 10 in October this year, and if your current device can’t be upgraded to Windows 11, then Prime Day is a great time to look at replacing your device.
While I’ve highlighted plenty of Windows 11 laptops here, if you’re thinking of leaving Windows for macOS or ChromeOS, then check out my article about Prime Day MacBook and Chromebook deals that will help you ditch Windows.
HP Omen Transcend 14
Prime Day isn’t all about work and no play. Honestly, this might just be the best gaming laptop deal I’ve seen yet, simply because of what you’ll be getting for a generous sum:
The HP Omen Transcend 14-inch gaming laptop is a fantastic gaming laptop, offering an Nvidia RTX 4070 GPU, an Intel Core Ultra 9 185H processor, 32GB of RAM, and an immersive OLED display.
I can’t stress how much of a steal this laptop is, with all of those features in one package for $1,599.99. The RTX 4070 will provide enough power to run through a variety of games, especially with the help of DLSS 4, all on an OLED screen, providing deep black levels with great contrast.
It’s one I’d hate to miss for sure!
A Chromebook deal that’s great for students
Looking at US laptop deals, this one immediately stood out for me:
With a huge 42% discount for Prime Day, this budget laptop just got even budget-ier. Despite its modest specs, this Asus Chromebook is excellent value for money for anyone who just needs a straightforward laptop for office work and surfing the internet, and its durable chassis and built-in parental controls make it a great first laptop for younger users too.
Good morning Night City deal hunters! Sorry, have been replaying Cyberpunk 2077 a lot recently. We’re now onto day two of Prime Day, and I’m still hunting for all the best laptop deals that Amazon and rivals like Best Buy and Walmart have to offer.
In fact, after the previous day of deal hunting, I’m tempted to say that Best Buy actually has the better laptop deals than Amazon, but that could all change today! The good news is that I’ll be watching both retailers, as well as many others, throughout Prime Day and will bring you only the laptop offers worth buying right here on this page, as well as explaining why I’ve picked them – so you don’t need to hop between websites – just stick to this page.
We’re coming up on midnight on the east coast, so I’m about ready to sign off, but my UK colleagues will be here in a moment to help bring you the latest finds from the start of the second day of the Amazon Prime Day sales event.
You know, we’ve been highlighting some very cheap laptops here for Amazon Prime Day and other retailers’ sales events, but sometimes, some people might just be looking for a little bit off a very premium laptop that they were already going to buy anyway.
In this case, that might be the Apple MacBook Pro 16-inch with M4 Max, 36GB of memory, and 1TB of storage. Normally $3,499 at Amazon, this MacBook Pro 16-inch is marked down 10% during Amazon’s sales event for an excellent $350 savings.
Apple MacBook Pro 16-inch (M4 Max): was $3,499 now $3,149 at Amazon
Here’s a heck of a deal I just found on the Acer Nitro V 15 at Amazon: a 15.6-inch FHD gaming laptop with a 165 Hz IPS display, powered by a 13th-gen Intel Core i7‑13620H and NVIDIA RTX 4050 GPU, backed by 16GB DDR5 RAM and a 1TB SSD, all for $849.99.
This is an 11% savings off its list price, and its specs are more than enough to get fantastic 1080p gaming on the go. If you’re looking for an entry-level gaming laptop that doesn’t compromise on quality, this one’ll get the job done.
I just spotted a killer deal on Amazon right now for the 2024 Apple MacBook Pro (14.2″, M4 chip). This powerhouse — featuring a 10‑core CPU, 10‑core GPU, 16GB of unified memory, and a 1TB SSD — is currently available for $1,623.89, which is 10% off its typical price tag of about $1,799.
From unpacking to first boot-up, this laptop screams pro-level build quality. The Liquid Retina XDR display is stunning, with up to 1600 nits peak brightness, and the performance is simply breathtaking: code compiles in seconds, video renders fly by, and battery life easily stretches through a full workday. Fans only kick in under heavy workload—otherwise, it runs whisper-quiet.
As someone who relies on pro-level performance for everything from 4K video editing to multitasking across Adobe Creative Cloud, this price is hard to beat. If you’ve been waiting for a MacBook Pro that hits the sweet spot between raw power and portability, this Amazon deal on the new M4 model is the one to grab.
Apple MacBook Pro 14-inch (M4): was $1,799 now $1,623.89 at Amazon
I just stumbled across an even better Chromebook deal on Amazon right now.
This HP Chromebook 14-inch features an Intel Processor N100, 8GB RAM, 128GB storage, and an HD display for nearly 50% off for Prime Day.
Granted, this won’t be the most powerful laptop out there, but for students and remote workers who just need something for cloud work and productivity, this Chromebook will absolutely get the job done.
HP Chromebook 14-nf0099nr: was $389.99 now $199.99 at Amazon
Those in the market for a productivity notebook with a solid battery life, great everyday performance, and a price tag under $1,000: I found a really good deal for you.
The Dell 14 Plus is on sale for Amazon Prime Day, and this model features an Intel Core Ultra 7 processor, 32GB of RAM, a 1TB SSD, and a 2.5K display for just $849.99 (down from $1,249.99). While you can find the same configuration on Amazon for $949.99, make sure to buy from Dell for an extra $100 in savings and still snag free, quick delivery.
One thing you can always count on when it comes to Prime Day is a sale on all sorts of MacBook models, and this year is no different. You can find just about every configuration at a discount, from the M1 MacBook Air to the M4 Max MacBook Pro.
If you want to see some of the best deals in one place, check out our hand-picked Amazon Prime Day MacBook roundup – some are even up to 24% off at Amazon.
Right now, there’s an amazing deal on Amazon for the Microsoft Surface Laptop 7 with a 13.8-inch touchscreen powered by the Snapdragon X Plus chip, 16 GB RAM, and a 512 GB SSD—yours for just $879.99, down from its typical $1,199.99 price tag.
The Snapdragon X Plus CPU delivers performance on par with the MacBook Air M3 in AI-driven tasks, and Microsoft claims battery life lasts up to 20 hours, though we found less battery life in our testing, though it still comes in at over 15 hours.
The touch-enabled 13.8-inch HDR display is crisp and responsive, perfect for both productivity and casual browsing. Considering the specs and price, this Surface Laptop feels like the best value in its class right now, and this price is hard to beat.
Microsoft Surface Laptop 7: was $1,199.99 now $879.99 at Amazon
While the specs on this Samsung 14-inch Galaxy Chromebook Go aren’t spectacular—it’s powered by an Intel Celeron N4500 with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage, so this is only good as a purely middle-school-or-lower student laptop—its price is hard to beat.
On sale for Prime Day at Amazon, you can pick this up for less than $200, which is a great price for a Chromebook, just don’t expect too much from it in terms of performance.
Samsung 14-inch Galaxy Chromebook Go: was $299.99 now $189.99 at Amazon
This Lenovo LOQ gaming laptop deal comes courtesy of B&H Photo, which is normally known for its camera and professional AV equipment, but don’t let that fool you; this is a gaming laptop through and through.
Powered by a 10-core 13th-gen Intel Core i5-13450HX, RTX 4060, 16GB DDR5 RAM, and 512GB SSD, it has solid specs for gaming at 1080p. What’s more, its 15.6-inch full HD 144Hz IPS display delivers super smooth and vibrant visuals, all for $300 off at B&H Photo.
If you’ve been eyeing a high-end laptop that can handle both creative work and gaming, this Alienware Aurora 16 has the specs to get the job done.
At just $1,099.99 at Best Buy right now (originally $1,499), it’s powered by an Intel Core 7 240H processor, Nvidia RTX 5060 GPU, 32GB DDR5 RAM, a 1TB SSD, and a 16-inch WQXGA 120 Hz display.
You won’t find many gaming laptops with this kind of power at this price, so you’ll definitely want to check it out if you’re in the market for a new gaming laptop.
Right now, the 13-inch MacBook Air with the M2 chip is going for just $699 (down from $799) as part of Best Buy’s “Black Friday in July” sale
This is the lowest price I’ve ever seen for this model (it even beats what you’ll find on Amazon right now), and features the sleek new design, vibrant Liquid Retina display, and excellent battery life of the current MacBook Air lineup, and honestly, it’s the perfect blend of portability and performance.
Whether I’m working on projects, browsing the web, or even doing some light gaming, the M2 chip handles everything smoothly wherever I happen to be, making it a great pickup, especially for any back-to-school shoppers out there looking to get a great deal on a new laptop.
Amazon Prime Day is bringing plenty of budget gaming hardware your way, and I think I’ve just found the most affordable gaming laptop you’ll see throughout this sale:
The Asus TUF Gaming A15 is the definition of an affordable gaming laptop this Amazon Prime Day. Using Nvidia’s RTX 3050 laptop GPU, the AMD Ryzen 5 7535HS, it’s an easy choice in my eyes.
It might not give you high-tier performance, but at 1920×1080 with the use of DLSS 4, the $629.99 price is an absolute steal. You’ll have the advantage of using DLSS 4 Super Resolution’s new transformer model coming from the previous CNN model, which provides sharper image quality, even in performance modes. Don’t miss it!
Now, for one I have personal hands-on experience with, which is quite a shock to see as it’s a fairly new gaming laptop:
The MSI Katana 15 HX is a great gaming laptop that has very much surprised me so far in testing (shhh… there’s a review coming soon). Using an RTX 5070 laptop GPU, and an Intel Core i9-14900HX, I’ve been able to enjoy gaming despite the 8GB of VRAM.
Playing games like Resident Evil 4 and Cyberpunk 2077 has been a breeze for me so far, and at the sale price of $1,417.99, it’s an easy recommendation.
Don’t miss this incredible Samsung laptop deal!
Oooh just found this absolute STUNNER of a laptop deal at Best Buy. You get the gorgeous Samsung Galaxy Book4 360 with AMOLED screen for a huge $550 discount. This could be the laptop deal of Prime Day – and it’s not even on Amazon!
As I mentioned earlier, I really like Samsung’s laptops these days (before, I felt they were a bit unexciting), and with this massive price cut you’re getting one heck of a device for $800.
This is a supremely stylish thin and light laptop, and because it’s a 2-in-1 you can also use it like a tablet. The touchscreen is a real highlight here, thanks to the AMOLED tech behind it which means colors are bright and vibrant, while blacks are deep and inky.
With a modern Intel Ultra 7 CPU and 16GB of RAM, this will outperform pretty much any other laptop at this price. This is definitely a Prime Day laptop deal that should not be missed – even if, once again, it’s actually at Best Buy!
Samsung Galaxy Book4 360, Intel Ultra 7, 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD: was $1,349.99 now $799.99
$400 off a great gaming laptop
If you’re out for a gaming laptop capable of fulfilling your high-performance gaming desires, look no further than the MSI Stealth 16 AI Studio.
Using the Nvidia RTX 4070 at a 1920×1200 resolution, you’ll be able to enjoy triple-A games without the GeForce laptop GPU breaking a sweat, while Intel’s Core Ultra 9 185H with 32GB of RAM gives you more than enough power to keep it flying during CPU-intensive tasks.
At its $1,599.99 sale price, it’s well worth a look.
MSI Stealth 16 AI Studio: was £1,999.99 now $1,599.99 at Best Buy
Don’t buy the MacBook Air 15-inch, buy this!
OK, want a great laptop deal for a stunning thin and light device? How about this one from Best Buy, which knocks a hefty $300 off the gorgeous 15.3-inch Lenovo Yoga Slim 7i Aura Edition.
- Lenovo Yoga Slim 7i Aura Edition, Intel Ultra 7, 32GB RAM, 1TB SSD:
was $1,399.99now $1,099.99 at Best Buy
For this price, I’d recommend the Lenovo Yoga Slim 7i Aura Edition over the similarly priced MacBook Air 15-inch, as the specs blow it out of the water, especially the 32GB RAM and 1TB SSD, which makes this a brilliant workhorse of a laptop.
You also get a touchscreen (something no MacBook will ever offer) with a 3K resolution and 120Hz refresh rate. This isn’t a gaming laptop, but that high refresh rate will make Windows 11 and its apps feel really fast and responsive.
Don’t ask me what the ‘Aura Edition’ is all about, though.
Is this the best laptop deal for $129?
Sticking with Best Buy, here’s a really, really cheap laptop…
Usually, laptops going for as low as $129 are best avoided, as they just don’t offer enough performance or durability to be worth spending even a small amount of money on.
For Chromebooks, however, it’s different, as ChromeOS works great on lower-powered hardware, and that allows for some great deals like this one:
- HP 14-inch Chromebook, 4GB RAM, 64GB storage: was
$329now $129 at Best Buy
With a $200 discount, this Chromebook is now ridiculously cheap, and it’s the perfect laptop for students, kids or anyone looking for a budget laptop to surf the web on.
Of course, you’ll need to set your expectations – this isn’t going to play any games, and as it uses ChromeOS, you won’t be able to run Windows applications on it, though many apps now have ChromeOS versions (or there are alternatives).
With those caveats aside, though, I don’t think you’ll find a cheaper laptop this Prime Day that’s worth buying.
Save $400 on this HP Envy 2-in-1
This deal is a fantastic offer on a powerful HP 2-in-1 device, which can be used as both a tablet and a laptop.
I’ve personally used a HP Envy 2-in-1 for my day-to-day laptop and I loved it – the build quality and performance was excellent, and this model comes with some great specs, including a powerful Intel Ultra 7 processor.
At just $600, this really is a fantastic offer, and proves you don’t have to just shop at Amazon during Prime Day to find great laptop deals.
HP Envy 2-in-1, Intel Ultra 7, 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD: was $999.99 now $599.99 at Best Buy
Don’t miss $300 off the Samsung Galaxy Book5 360!
OK, just when I thought I’d exhausted Amazon’s selection of Prime Day laptop deals, I’ve just found this cracker:
This is the latest model of Samsung’s 2-in-1 series of laptops, and it’s a stunner. The design and build quality is seriously premium, and the AMOLED touchscreen is bright and vibrant, making it great for watching movies and TV shows on it.
It also comes with built-in Dolby Atmos speakers, which makes watching media on it even better – these could be the best speakers you can get in a laptop, to be honest.
The cutting-edge Intel Ultra CPU means this isn’t just a great performer for day-to-day tasks, but it can go for up to 31 hours on a single charge. And, with a $300 price cut for Prime Day, the Samsung Galaxy Book5 360 pretty much blows the competition straight out of the water.
I’m sorry I ever doubted you, Prime Day.
Just spotted this excellent deal which knocks $200 off the price of the Samsung Galaxy Book4 Edge at Amazon – and it looks like it’s selling out fast!
I’ve really been digging Samsung’s latest laptops, and while the Book4 Edge isn’t the most current version, at this price it’s a fantastic thin and light laptop, and if you have a Samsung Galaxy smartphone or tablet, you get some really cool additional features that make the devices work well together. My only concern is that at the time of writing there are only three units left at this price!
While I’m spending my time here bringing you the very best laptop Prime Day deals, if you’d rather buy a gaming PC, then we have an excellent Amazon Prime Day gaming PC deals roundup, where Isaiah has hand-picked some great offers that can save you a lot of money for a brilliant device.
Save a massive $800 off this Alienware laptop with Nvidia RTX 5090!
OK if you’re serious about gaming and have a large enough wallet, then I think I’ve found an awesome deal for you:
Again, this is a huge amount of money, though the $800 discount makes it a bit more palatable. The key thing, however, is that you are getting an incredible gaming laptop, with the RTX 5090 being the most powerful GPU you can get in a laptop right now. Add the high-end 24 core Intel Ultra 9 CPU and 64GB of RAM, and you have a machine that will play the latest games at their highest settings for years to come.
It’s also great for creative work, and you get Alienware’s famous design and build quality, including a stunning 18-inch screen. If you want the very best, this could be the deal for you.
Nvidia RTX 5070 gaming laptop deal
If you’ve got more of a budget for gaming laptops, then it’s worth keeping an eye out for laptops with Nvidia’s latest RTX 5000 series graphics cards, which provide awesome performance in the latest games, especially when combined with DLSS 4 and Multi Frame Generation.
With that in mind, I’ve found this excellent high-end gaming laptop that’s had a huge $400 price cut for Prime Day:
While $2,000 is still a heck of a lot of cash, you are getting a brilliant gaming laptop for the price. The RTX 5070 Ti is one of the best GPUs you can get right now, and paried with a high-end Intel Ultra 9 CPU and 32GB of DDR5 RAM, this is a gaming laptop that will handle any modern game with ease.
It’s also got high-end gaming features such as an RGB lightbar (sure, that doesn’t impact games, but it looks lovely), customisable RAM and SSD and an ultra-fast 240Hz 2.5K 16-inch screen, which makes games look fantastic.
Three months of Game Pass is included, and the roomy 1TB SSD will give you plenty of space to store your games. If you’ve got the cash, this could be the deal of Amazon Prime Day 2025.
A premium Chromebook for just $258.99
Going back to the US, this is an interesting deal for a Chromebook – the Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3 Chromebook plus a ‘docking station set’ for $258.99 – down from $329.99.
This 14-inch Chromebook has a stylish thin and light design, and decent enough specs for ChromeOS to run smoothly enough. However, built-in storage is a bit on the slim side – just 64GB.
Because Chrome OS is so lightweight, and most apps are cloud-based, having a large SSD in a Chromebook isn’t as important as with a Windows 11 laptop or a MacBook, but if you’re going to be doing a lot of work offline, then you’ll need enough storage to hold your files.
This deal has an interesting solution, as it includes a ‘docking station set’, essentially a USB-C hub that as well as including additional USB 2.0 and USB 3.0 ports and a HDMI port, it has a built in 128GB SSD storage. The hub also has an SD card reader, along with a 32GB microSD card, essentially giving you a total of 160GB of extra storage.
The hub also means it’s incredibly easy to plug this Chromebook (or any device with a USB-C port) into a desktop setup with monitor, mouse and keyboard. For the price, that’s pretty great.
Acer’s ‘best ever’ Prime Day sales
Over in the UK, Amazon Prime Day has been going for a while now, so if you’re based there, make sure you check out our roundup of the best Amazon Prime Day UK deals.
Our computing staff writer, Isaiah Williams, has also put together this roundup of Acer’s Prime Day sales in the UK, which the company is claiming is it’s ‘best ever’.
HIghlights include:
This Prime Day vacuum deals roundup deals mostly with manual vacuums, but if you’d prefer something a little more hands-off, there are plenty of robot vacuum deals about too. Robot vacuums don’t have as much power as a manual vacuum, so they’re no good for deep cleans. What they are good for is taking care of regular, light cleaning, so the dust and dirt doesn’t have a chance to build up. I’ve been testing robot vacuums for 15 months now, and even though I have a small flat, I wouldn’t be without one.
My guide to the best robot vacuums rounds up our top-rated models. Some of these bots mop as well as vacuuming, and come with auto-empty docks so you don’t need to manually empty the tiny onboard bins so often.
Gaming laptop for just $649.99
One of the hardest products to find good deals on during events like this are gaming laptops. There are some super-powerful and super-expensive gaming laptops out there that even if they get a massive price cut are still just too expensive for most people.
Then there are cheap gaming laptops that are much more affordable, but a quick look at the specs are enough to put you off – retailers will often try to flog gaming laptops with outdated and less powerful hardware to keep their profit margins as high as possible, but buying a gaming laptop that’s too weak to play modern games is going to be a waste of money, no matter how low the price is.
So, I’m keeping an eye out for gaming laptop deals that are actually worth buying – and I’ve found one at Amazon:
The price, $649.99, is about as low as you’ll want to go with a gaming laptop, and specs-wise it’s not too bad, though I’d prefer more RAM. But otherwise, this is a solid gaming laptop – the RTX 4050 is far from the most powerful GPU, but when running at 1080p, you’ll be able to get some good results with a bit of tweaking – and with DLSS upscaling, it definitely punches above its weight.
The 512GB SSD is good to see, as that’ll give you plenty of room to install multiple games, rather than having to juggle game installations.
Acer makes some great laptops, and its Nitro V lineup is held in high regard when it comes to budget gaming laptops, and at this new lower price, it’s definitely worth considering if you don’t want to spend huge amounts of money on a gaming laptop.
Super-cheap laptop that’s actually worth buying spotted!
Are you looking for a super-cheap laptop, but don’t want a Chromebook? This year’s Prime Day could deliver. Usually, cheap Windows 11 laptops around the $250 price point aren’t actually worth buying as too many compromises have been made, especially when it comes to under-powered components, which makes using Windows 11 a chore.
But there are some exceptions, like this great laptop deal that’s just gone live:
Now, this isn’t a laptop I’d recommend to everyone – the Ryzen 3 chip and 8GB of RAM means that this isn’t going to be a productivity powerhouse. The 128GB SSD is also quite low these days, especially once Windows 11 is installed.
However, at $219.99, you are getting a full Windows 11 experience that will work fine for tasks such as browsing the web and creating documents. So, this is an ideal laptop for students and people on a budget who are looking for a solid, no-frills, cheap laptop. It would make an excellent first laptop for kids as well, and because it runs Windows 11, it means you have more flexibility than with a Chromebook running Chrome OS at the same price point.
We’re about two minutes away from Amazon launching its Prime Day deals, so I’ll be switching back to there to see if what kind of laptop deals the retailer is offering…
Save $400 on this excellent Lenovo 2-in-1 laptop
If you’re hunting for a 2-in-1 laptop, then I’ve just spotted this fantastic deal, again from Best Buy (I’m sticking on this website for a bit until Prime Day kicks off properly at Amazon):
The best 2-in-1 laptops offer the portability and convenience of a tablet with the productivity and ease of use of a laptop, allowing you to switch between the two form factors easily, either by flipping the keyboard back behind the screen, or removing the keyboard all together.
This Lenovo Yoga 7i deal caught my eye as not only has it had a huge price cut of $400, but the specs are excellent, with a powerful Intel Ultra CPU, 16GB RAM and plenty of storage space. The 16-inch screen means this is a large 2-in-1 to work on, which will be great for people, like digital creatives, who want a large and vibrant touchscreen to work on. However, if you want a laptop that’s easily portable, you might want to look at a smaller device.
OK, I’ve just spotted this excellent laptop deal on Best Buy:
When HP showed off the OmniBook X at a press event a while back, I was really impressed with the gorgeous design and very solid build quality. HP is one of the most popular laptop makers in the world for a reason.
The AMD Ryzen AI 7 chip is a very powerful processor, and as you might imagine, has been built with an NPU for on-device AI workloads (so you’re not sharing information online, like cloud-based AI tools require you to do).
Meanwhile, the 24GB of RAM means you’ll be able to multitask with ease, so anyone who likes having loads of apps and web pages open at once should definitely consider this, and the 1TB SSD means you won’t be filling the storage up any time soon. All for $750 makes this an easy recommendation. Don’t miss out!
With retailers cutting prices and no sign of Apple planning to launch new hardware imminently, this Prime Day week is probably the best time to buy a new MacBook, as Alex Blake explains in his excellent feature: I’m an Apple expert – here’s why Amazon Prime Day is a great time to buy a new MacBook.
Now, you’ll probably see a lot of people saying they are experts over the next few days, but Alex really is when it comes to Apple products, as he’s been writing about, and using, them for many many years.
Of course, as I mentioned earlier, during Prime Day, Amazon isn’t the only retailer cutting prices, and popping over to Walmart I’ve seen this excellent deal:
OK, so this is for a model that’s five years old – it’s the original MacBook Air that came with the revolutionary M1 chip. Its 8GB of memory and 256GB storage are also pretty low for a laptop in 2025.
However, this really is an excellent price for a MacBook, especially for people like students who want a sturdy and dependable laptop without having to pay outrageous sums.
While I recommend people getting a newer model if they can afford it, for $599 you really can’t get a better laptop for the price – as long as you know that you’re not getting the latest and greatest.
So, what about Microsoft’s rival Apple and its MacBook laptops? Well, I’ve just had a look at Amazon, and at the moment its MacBook deals are hovering around 10%-15% off. So, I think it’s worth waiting just over an hour and see if those prices drop further. Hold strong!
Let’s start with some deals on Microsoft’s Surface lineup of products, primarily the Surface Pro, which is a Windows 11-powered tablet that can be turned into an incredibly thin and light laptop, plus the Surface Laptop, which (as the name suggests) is a traditional… laptop.
I’ve been pretty impressed with recent models, especially the ones launched late last year, as Microsoft seemed to finally release devices that can compete, and even surpass, MacBooks and iPads from its long-term rival, Apple.
Here are the top Surface deals from Amazon so far:

According to Amazon’s own website, Prime Day doesn’t officially start for another hour and a half, but that’s not going to stop me checking for early deals!
Good morning! Right let’s crack on with some deal hunting, now that it’s officially Amazon Prime Day (for the next four days)!
Remember to check out our best laptops guide, as I have carefully curated it to show you what the very best laptops, Chromebooks and MacBooks are, plus our built-in widget will find you the best prices as well.
We’re coming up on the official start of the Prime Day sales event in the US, so you can expect a lot of new sales pricing on the best laptops, and not just at Amazon.
We’ll be here throughout to cover the best deals we find on everything from MacBooks, Windows laptops, gaming laptops, and Chromebooks wherever we can find them.
Another thing to think about is whether you need a traditional clamshell laptop or a more versatile form factor.
In 2025, 2-in-1 convertible and foldable laptops are a lot more powerful and versatile than they’ve been in the past.
Devices like the Lenovo Yoga 9i and Samsung Galaxy Book4 Pro 360 offer pen input, tablet mode, and great OLED touchscreens, while laptops like the Dell 14 Plus 2-in-1 offer fantastic value for students and professionals who need the flexibility of a convertible form factor at an accessible price.
Just be aware, though, that these machines are usually thinner and may have fewer ports or lower sustained performance under load than more traditional laptops, and gaming will definitely be a major challenge, if not impossible.
So make sure to prioritize your workflow needs if you’re considering a 2-in-1—don’t buy a convertible laptop if you’ll never use the touchscreen or tablet mode.
With Prime Day sales going live in the UK, some fantastic deals are available like this Apple MacBook Pro 14-inch with M4, which is roughly £170 off right now at Amazon.
With 16GB memory and 512GB storage, this MacBook is fully prepared for Apple Intellegence thanks to the powerful neural engine built into the M4 chip inside.
Apple’s latest MacBook Pro 14-inch with the M4 chip is one of the most compelling laptops you can grab right now—especially with $170 off for Prime Day.
This model comes with 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage, hitting the sweet spot for performance and value, though upgraded configurations are also discounted. Whether you’re a student, a creative professional, or someone who just wants a premium experience, this MacBook delivers across the board—from everyday tasks to high-end creative work and even some light gaming.
The new M4 chip is a powerhouse, handling everything from video editing to 3D rendering with ease. If you’ve been eyeing a MacBook for back-to-school or a work upgrade, this is a rare chance to get cutting-edge Apple hardware at a more approachable price.
Apple MacBook Pro (2024, M4): was $1,599 now $1,429 at Amazon
If you’re buying a laptop for creative work in 2025—whether it’s photo editing, video production, 3D rendering, music production, or design—the right device can dramatically impact your productivity and workflow.
The most important starting point is to match your laptop’s performance to the intensity of your creative tasks.
For heavy video editing or 3D work, you’ll want a powerful GPU (like the NVIDIA RTX 4070, 4080, or higher) and a fast CPU (such as Apple’s M4 Pro/Max or AMD Ryzen 9/Intel Core Ultra 9). These components are crucial for real-time playback, effects rendering, and export times.
If your work leans more toward photography, graphic design, or digital illustration, you can get excellent results from lighter systems with integrated GPUs, as long as they have a powerful CPU and enough RAM.
Many 2025 model laptops come with new dedicated Neural Processing Unit (NPU) that help power features like real-time translation, background noise suppression, and even AI-assisted photo and video editing—all without draining your CPU or sending your data to the cloud.
If you’re someone who values smarter, more efficient workflows or wants to future-proof your machine, choosing a laptop with an NPU (such as Apple M-series, Qualcomm Snapdragon X, and Intel Core Ultra chips) is definitely something to consider right now.
This is especially true if you use AI tools for work, like Copilot in Microsoft 365 or Adobe Firefly in creative apps which take full advantage of this new hardware resource.
If you’re game for some gaming laptop deals, a surprising source is B&H Photo, which has this Asus TUF Gaming F16 on sale right now for $310 off.
Powered by the latest Intel Core Ultra 9 275HX processor and Nvidia RTX 5060 GPU, 32GB DDR5 RAM, 1TB NVMe PCIe SSD, and a sizable 16-inch QHD+ 165Hz display, you’ll be able to play the latest AAA games at blisting fast speeds on the go at a great price.
Asus TUF Gaming F16: was $1,899.99 now $1,589.99 at B&H Photo
For gaming laptops, there are a lot of things to look for in terms of specs that will have a huge impact on the kind of gaming performance you can expect to experience on modern titles.
The first thing to lock down is the GPU, as it’s the most important component for gaming. If you want to play AAA games at high settings with ray tracing and high frame rates, look for laptops with at least an Nvidia RTX 4070, RTX 4080, RTX 5070, or better.
For esports titles or less demanding games, a system with an RTX 4060 or even 4050 will often do just fine at 1080p or 1440p resolution. RTX 5060 GPUs are also good for mainstream gaming at 1080p or 1440p with graphics settings at more modest levels.
Next, pay attention to the CPU. Intel’s Core Ultra series (formerly i9, i7, etc.) and AMD’s Ryzen 8000-series processors are both great for gaming.
Make sure you select a model with at least 16GB RAM, though 32GB is better for modern titles and multitasking, especially if you stream or mod games.
The display is another major decision point. A good gaming laptop in 2025 should have a display with a 144 Hz refresh rate, at least, ideally with G-SYNC or FreeSync support to eliminate screen tearing.
A QHD (2560×1440) or similar resolution is the sweet spot for many gamers, offering better visuals than 1080p without the heavy load of 4K. If you’re into competitive gaming, a 240 Hz or even 360 Hz display can give you an edge in reaction time, though this only matters if your hardware can consistently drive those frame rates.
Unfortunately, MacBooks still have a ways to go before they will be competitive on the PC gaming front, so I’d also definitely suggest sticking with a Windows laptop if gaming is your primary concern.
While not the most powerful laptop around, the Dell Inspiron 14 5440 is still a very capable device, especially for less than $370 at Walmart right now.
The Inspiron 14 5440 is a 14-inch FHD+ laptop with an Intel Core i5-1334U processor, 8GB RAM, and 512GB SSD, making it better suited for school work and productivity than gaming, but for the price, it’s a very solid work or school laptop.
In keeping with the aforementioned advice, this Apple MacBook Air 13-inch comes with an Apple M1 chip, 8GB memory, and 256GB storage, making it a fantastic laptop for students who need a bit more power than a Chromebook, but don’t need the latest and greatest laptop out there.
Right now, it’s available at Walmart for one of the lowest prices I’ve ever seen for this device, making it one you definitely want to add to your back-to-school shortlist.
Apple MacBook Air 13″ (M1, 8GB, 256GB): just $649 at Walmart
Before we get into more deals, I wanted to share some other pieces of buying advice when searching for a new laptop.
With the Amazon Prime Day sales event shaping up to be bigger than ever this year, there are going to be a lot of people selling dirt cheap laptops—but not all of them are going to be worth even those sales prices.
If you’re buying a cheap Chromebook, you can get by with 4GB memory and a 64GB SSD (though I wouldn’t pay very much for such a device), but for Windows and Apple laptops, you really need an absolute bare minimum of 8GB and 128GB SSD storage. Anything less and your performance is going to be atrocious.
Better still, be on the lookout for laptops with more than 8GB of memory (preferably 16GB or greater), and at least 256GB SSD storage.
Also, don’t overlook the refresh rates of the displays, usually given in Hz. Higher numbers mean more screen refreshes every second, and this helps make things look more fluid and smoothes out onscreen motion.
If you’re looking for something with a bit more oomph for playing the latest PC games, there’s a great deal at Best Buy right now on the HP Victus 15.6-inch with a 144Hz display, AMD Ryzen 7 7445HS processor, Nvidia RTX 4050 GPU, 16GB memory, and a 512GB SSD, all for $250 off.
Over in the Chromebook department, there are some super-cheap ChromeOS laptops available right now.
First up is this HP Chromebook 15, which is cheaper than half-price at Best Buy right now thanks to a hefty $220 reduction – an excellent deal for a laptop that was already pretty good value for money.
Equipped with an Intel N200 CPU and 8GB of RAM, it’s not going to run all the latest games and dazzle you with its graphical performance, but if you’re looking for a straightforward workhorse laptop for everyday tasks like answering emails and browsing the web, this is a solid pick. Thanks to the low hardware requirements of ChromeOS, you should have a smooth experience.
Dell’s Black Friday in July sale runs during Prime Day week (surely a coincidence!), and it’s already delivered some brilliant laptop deals.
If the Dell XPS 13 deal I mentioned earlier is still too pricey, I really recommend checking out the excellent Dell 15 laptop for $449 (was $649).
For under $500 you get a solid and dependable laptop that while not the most powerful notebook out there, is ideal for work and study, with excellent build quality and decent specs. Definitely worth considering if you’re looking for a great laptop for students.
I’ve just spotted this great deal at Best Buy for the Samsung Galaxy Book4 360. A few years ago, Samsung laptops weren’t anything to get too excited about, but the company has been putting out some fantastic devices recently, and at this new lower price ($550 off), you get an excellent 2-in-1 laptop:
Samsung Galaxy Book4 360: was $1,349.99 now $799.99
With an Intel Ultra 7, 16GB of RAM and a stunning OLED touchscreen, this is a brilliant performer, and a versatile laptop, as it can be used as a normal laptop, or with the keyboard folded back, it can be used like a tablet.
For this price, I think it’s an excellent deal for students and people who want a laptop they can use from the couch, and the huge $550 price tag means you don’t have to wait for Prime Day to officially start.
First of all, I’ve found this excellent deal on the Dell XPS 13. It’s always been one of my favorite laptops, and this model, which has had a huge $400 price cut from Dell, comes with some pretty great hardware, including the powerful Snapdragon X Elite chip and 32GB of RAM.
Usually the price of this model puts it out of reach for a lot of people, but for Prime Day the price is closer to the MacBook Air – and it offers much better performance.
Next, there are Chromebooks. These are usually much cheaper than Windows 11 laptops, and also boast impressively long battery lives, making them ideal for students in particular.
Chromebooks run Chrome OS, rather than Windows 11, which is a lightweight operating system based on Google’s Chrome browser. Chrome OS has evolved over the years, and there are lots of apps available for all kinds of tasks.
When I say Chrome OS is lightweight, what I mean by that is that it is designed for efficiency over power and features. This allows it to run on less powerful hardware than other operating systems which is why Chromebooks are often a lot cheaper than other laptops, and why their batteries last longer. The downside is that this does mean Chromebooks don’t come with all the features you’d expect from traditional laptops, and many apps that you can use in Windows 11 or macOS don’t work in Chrome OS – though there are usually alternatives.
Let’s start with a bit of buying advice. Before buying a new laptop, have a clear idea of what your budget is and what you want to use the laptop for. There are a lot of different types of laptop out there, so knowing what kind will suit your needs will make things a lot easier.
You’ll likely see laptops fall into three main categories: laptops, Chromebooks and MacBooks.
Laptops are usually Windows 11 devices, and these come in all shapes and sizes. There are plenty of budget laptops out there that are good picks for people who just need something to browse the web and write up documents. There are also powerful gaming laptops, premium thin and light laptops, 2-in-1 devices and more.
