We are still well over a month away from the start of the new Premier League season, but there has already been a change announced to the scheduling of one of Tottenham’s fixtures.
Tottenham’s Premier League fixture list for the 2025-26 season came out last month, and while Spurs have a relatively decent start, things get difficult very quickly for Thomas Frank at the start of his reign.
Tottenham have a ‘month of death’ from mid-October to mid-November as they face Aston Villa, Chelsea, Manchester United and Arsenal within a space of a few weeks.
Before that, there is a small matter of the UEFA Super Cup clash against Paris Saint-Germain in Udine on August 13, which will be Frank’s first competitive game in charge of the Lilywhites.
Timing of Tottenham’s fixture against Man City has been changed
Spurs will start the season with a relatively straightforward fixture as they take on newly-promoted Burnley at home.
However, Frank’s honeymoon could end there as the Lilywhites face an extremely challenging away trip to the Etihad to take on Manchester City in their second league game.
That Premier League clash, which was scheduled for a 3 pm kick-off on Saturday, August 23, has now been pushed forward, with the game now set to kick-off at 12.30 pm.
This likely means that it will be selected for television coverage, which comes as no surprise given the history of matches between Tottenham and Manchester City.
Tottenham face a major challenge ahead of their opening league game
While Frank could not have asked for a much easier start than playing Burnley at home, he will hardly have any time to prepare for that clash.
Tottenham face a tight turnaround from the Super Cup to their first league game, with the Lilywhites having just three days between the final at Udine and their opening league game against the Clarets.
Should Spurs fail to win their opening fixture, with a trip to Etihad being next on the calendar, Frank is at risk of being under pressure early into his Tottenham reign.
