The cheaper version of the Retroid Pocket Flip 2 is finally here after an extended wait. Available for as little as $179 when applying an early launch discount, the new version maintains the device’s 5.5-inch and 1080p AMOLED display but switches to MediaTek Dimensity silicon to hit a lower price point than its Qualcomm Snapdragon-powered sibling.
The MediaTek Dimensity version of the Pocket Flip 2 is finally here after an extended wait. While the Qualcomm-powered model has been available for some time (curr. $269 on Amazon), its MediaTek sibling has suffered a three-month delay for one reason or another.
To recap, the Pocket Flip 2 Dimensity Edition contains three major changes from its Qualcomm-powered sibling. Positively, the new variant features Bluetooth 5.2 connectivity, which offers Low Energy Audio (LE Audio) and reduced power consumption over the Bluetooth 5.1 found in the Qualcomm version of the Pocket Flip 2.
The Dimensity Edition drops from 27 W to 18 W charging, though. On top of that, our benchmarks show that the Dimensity 1100 in this model falls about 11% short of the Snapdragon 865 in GPU tasks but 22% when pushing their CPUs.
Nonetheless, Retroid charges 13% less for the new Dimensity Edition or almost 22% less when applying the discount code FLIP2SAVE20 at checkout before July 11. Alternatively, FLIP2SAVE10 will be available for a $10 discount until August 9. Please see Retroid’s product page for more details and the chart below comparing the device’s two variants.
