Man charged after woman ‘repeatedly punched and pushed from moving van’

A man has been charged after a woman was allegedly punched in the head several times and pushed from a moving vehicle.

Police have been investigating allegations the victim was assaulted inside a van travelling at speed in the Pembury Road area of Tunbridge Wells.

The incident happened on Saturday, June 14, and both the victim and driver were known to each other.

It is reported that before the incident, the woman had been repeatedly punched in the head.

She fell from the van near the junction with Sandrock Road and was left with serious cuts, burns and grazes to her head, face and body.

On Saturday (July 5), Tobias Dono, 32, of no fixed address, was arrested at a location on the Isle of Sheppey.

He was later charged with offences including attempting to cause grievous bodily harm with intent, engaging in controlling and coercive behaviour and stalking involving fear of violence.

He appeared before Sevenoaks Magistrates’ Court on Monday (July 7) and was remanded in custody.

His next court hearing will be at Maidstone Crown Court on Monday, August 4.
