Mohammed Kudus completely lost his head during the London derby against Tottenham last season, but his suspension record suggests that his behaviour was out of character.
Tottenham are now pushing hard to land Kudus, who will become the first player in 14 years to make a move from West Ham to Spurs if a deal can be agreed between the two clubs.
According to various reports, Kudus has already given the green light to move to Spurs and is not speaking to any other club at the moment.
It thus appears that the Lilywhites are favourites to get a deal over the line, and we now take a look at whether his disciplinary record is something Thomas Frank’s men should be concerned about.
Mohammed Kudus has a decent disciplinary record
Tottenham fans will certainly remember what happened during the London derby between Spurs and West Ham at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium last year.
The clash descended into chaos in the final minutes after Micky van de Ven went in for a challenge on Kudus and felt that the winger lashed out at him cynically.
In the moments that followed, the Hammers winger raised his hand and struck both the Dutch defender and Pape Matar Sarr in the face, resulting in VAR intervening and ordering a red card for Kudus.
Spurs fans may be worried about the Ghanaian’s temper due to that incident but his disciplinary record suggests that he has no issues controlling himself.
That red card incident is the only one where Kudus has been suspended since arriving in the Premier League. The only time he has previously been sent off is back in the 2019-20 season.
What is the hold-up in Tottenham’s deal for Kudus?
According to reports, Tottenham have had three offers rejected by West Ham for Mohammed Kudus.
The latest offer was worth £50m plus £12.5m in add-ons, but these additional payments were deemed ‘barely attainable’ by West Ham as it included things like Spurs winning the Premier League and Champions League.
The Hammers are thus asking for more realistic bonus structures from the North London club to greenlight the winger’s move to N17.
