Discounted gaming systems, from tiny to titanic.
Prime Day 2025 is set to kick off on July 8th, but we’ve already found a nice selection of discounts on PC handhelds, gaming laptops and pre-built desktop PCs. If you prefer to buy your systems rather than build them, this is the deals roundup for you.
For each deal, we’ll highlight the best configuration available and where it comes from, and explain exactly why we rate this deal.
I think that’s all pretty self-explanatory, so let’s get right into it with the first deal.
The Lenovo Legion Go S is an awesome handheld gaming PC that is available with both Windows 11 and Valve’s Steam OS out of the box – though this is the former, you can install Steam OS fairly easily yourself if you prefer to unlock some extra performance.
Otherwise, the Go S is well-equipped, with a Steam Deck equivalent Z2 Go processor, 16GB of LPDDR5X memory, a roomy 1TB NVMe SSD and a massive 8-inch 1920×1200 120Hz IPS display. With a 33 percent discount, dropping it from £599 to £399, this is an incredibly compelling option.
The Zotac Zone isn’t the best-known gaming handheld, versus compatriots like the ROG Ally or Valve Steam Deck, but it has a lot going for it and is powered by the same powerful AMD architecture. Specifically, it comes with the Ryzen 8840U, a next-gen counterpart of the 7840U that’s used in a huge range of PC handhelds, paired with 16GB of LPDDR5X memory, a 512GB NVMe SSD and a seven-inch 1080p 120Hz OLED (!!) display.
I appreciate the inclusion of Hall Effect tech in the joysticks and triggers, which provides a welcome boost in terms of precision and durability, as well as a trigger lock that’s ideal for faster-paced games. It’s also one of the few handhelds outside of the Steam Deck to come with touch pads. We’ve not reviewed the Zotac Zone, but for the money you’re getting a huge amount of handheld, and it’s definitely worth a look!
The MSI Pulse 16 AI is a CPU-heavy work and gaming laptop, with a powerful and power-efficient Intel Core Ultra 7 155H processor and a mid-range RTX 4060 graphics card, backed with 16GB of RAM and a 1TB NVMe SSD. That is a good choice for esports titles and older games, but not ideal for recent AAA releases – which may struggle to hit playable frame-rates at the native 1600p resolution without dropping settings significantly. However, for an AI-capable work laptop that can also do some competitive gaming, this is an awesome spec, especially with the 16-inch 2560×1600 240Hz display.
The Medion Erazer Bandit P20 is a weirdly-named prebuilt gaming PC, but the spec here is solid for the £740 asking price – including an RTX 4060 Ti (sadly the 8GB model), a Core i5 14400F processor, 16GB of DDR4 RAM and a 1TB NVMe SSD. You also get a small form factor case (that probably will be hard to upgrade in later) and a set of Lenovo Legion PC peripherals, including a mouse, mouse pad, keyboard and headset. All in all, not a bad starting point for your PC gaming journey!
If you want a more powerful system that’s easier to upgrade down the road, this Intel Vortex prebuilt gaming PC from Palicomp is ideal. It offers good performance in the here and now, courtesy of an RTX 5070 12GB graphics card and Core i5 14400F processor, as well as a full-size design made from off-the-shelf parts. That means you can upgrade pretty much anything you like later, though the 16GB of DDR5, 2TB PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSD and Cooler Master 850W PSU already give you a lot of runway. You will probably want to jump to 32GB of DDR5-6000 at some stage, but otherwise there’s little to complain about with this build, especially at £1000.
