Nestled in the heart of the majestic Alps, a unique event is gearing up to defy the norms of altitude and imagination. On July 5th and 6th, 2025, Méribel will transform into a gateway to virtual worlds, hosting the Game Over Festival.
Méribel is set to host, for the second time, a pivotal gathering for pop culture and virtual worlds enthusiasts: the Game Over Festival. On the 5th and 6th of July 2025, this event in the 3 Valleys ski area, located in the Savoie department of the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region, will be the highest of its kind in Europe. The festival promises a unique immersive experience for fans of gaming, cosplay, and Japanese culture, right in the heart of the Alps. In short, if you’re looking to combine gaming with a dream vacation, this event is definitely for you.
From Saturday the 5th to Sunday the 6th of July, from 10 AM to 7 PM, the Game Over Festival’s schedule is packed and diverse. It will include e-sport tournaments featuring popular games like Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Super Smash Bros Brawl Ultimate, and FC 25, all with prizes. Music and dance performances will also be part of the festivities, including lively Just Dance sessions. Festival-goers can also test their knowledge in a Geek Quiz and a Gaming Blindtest, which will also offer prizes. The festival will showcase immersive experiences, such as virtual reality and racing or paragliding simulators, and will host booths from exhibitors (artists, studios, collectors, etc.) from France and Switzerland. Moreover, two raffle drawings are scheduled, one on Saturday and one on Sunday, to win some exceptional prizes, while a Savoyard Raclette will be available at the Festival Bar for lunch breaks.
This year, the festival is especially dedicated to cosplay, promising a visual spectacle that should delight fans of this art form. The program includes a Cosplay Summit, gathering participants for photo sessions, meet-ups, and exchanges. For the first time, stage parades will be organized, providing a platform for cosplayers’ creations. On Sunday, the results of the Cosplay Photo Contest 2025 will also be revealed.
