Tottenham told Jacob Ramsey would be open to joining Thomas Frank project

Former Tottenham and Aston Villa scout Mick Brown believes that Jacobs Ramsey would be happy to swap Villa Park for the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium after learning about Thomas Frank’s plans for him.

It has been widely reported that Frank wants to strengthen Tottenham’s midfield department this summer while it has also been claimed that Spurs are looking to improve their homegrown numbers.

That explains why Tottenham have been credited with an interest in Jacob Ramsey amidst suggestions that Villa are happy to cash in on the Englishman to improve their PSR situation.

A couple of days ago, Mick Brown claimed that Thomas Frank is a fan of Ramsey, and he has now said that there is only one thing that the 24-year-old needs to consider before greenlighting a move to N17.

Jacob Ramsey is expected to get regular game time at Tottenham

Brown, who worked for over a decade as a scout at Hotspur Way, has suggested that Ramsey is not central to Unai Emery’s plans at Villa Park.

He claimed that the midfielder would get more minutes under Frank at Spurs and suggested that assurances of game time would see the player greenlight a move to N17.

When asked if Ramsey would be open to joining Tottenham, Brown told Football Insider: “Jacob Ramsey has to make a decision. In his own mind, he’ll weigh up whether he thinks he’s going to be a regular in the Villa team.

“If that’s not the case, he has to ask the same question about whether he would be at Tottenham. From what I hear, Spurs would be prepared to offer him more minutes from the start of games than he is currently getting at Villa.

“If that is the case, I’m sure he would be happy to make that move. He’s had doubts about whether he’s going to be a regular starting XI player at Villa, or if he’s going to be better served moving somewhere else. So, a move to Tottenham Hotspur would be a fresh start and a new environment for him.

“There have been a few questions about what his future at Villa might look like, because the manager isn’t certain he’s going to be a big part of the plans. That opens the door for Spurs, because Thomas Frank likes rates him and he’s one they’ve been interested in for a while.”

Would Ramsey actually get regular game time at Spurs?

Reports continue to indicate that Yves Bissouma will be allowed to leave Spurs this summer.

Additionally, there are also question marks about the future of Rodrigo Bentancur, who has just one year to run on his deal.

However, we know that the new Spurs boss is a fan of the Uruguayan, with Frank praising Bentancur in his first interview as Tottenham boss.

There is thus expected to be some turnover in Tottenham’s midfield this summer and Ramsey may fancy his chances of forcing himself into the Dane’s startling eleven should he make the move to North London.
