Tottenham Hotspur fans have been reacting to a major development regarding their captain Heung-min Son, after new reports suggested the club legend has made a final decision on his future.
It has long been reported that Heung-min Son could well be on the verge of departing the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, following interest from clubs in Saudi Arabia and the MLS.
It was claimed by those around the club that Son left them with the impression that last season was his final one at Hotspur Way, which led many Tottenham fans to say that if Son were to leave, he should not be forced out of the club, given that he is a club legend.
Jose Mourinho was also said to have been in contact with Son, as the former Tottenham Hotspur boss looked to lure him to Turkey.
Spurs fans react as Heung-min Son is set to stay at Tottenham
A fresh update now claims that Heung-min Son has decided to remain at Tottenham Hotspur for one more season, as the wide forward looks to have one more shot at Champions League success this season.
It is understood that the Tottenham captain is set to meet with new head coach Thomas Frank to finalise his plans.
Tottenham Hotspur fans have now shared their reaction to the latest reports, with mixed opinions aplenty from the Spurs faithful.
One fan said: “That is the best news ever 🤍” another stated: “I think we will see more of the old Son under Frank. He has never been a touchline winger (the way Ange liked them to play), and always more of an inside forward. I am happy for him to stay for one more season, he has definitely earned that right.”
One more commented: “If this is true then I am absolutely delighted he has decided to stay. We can give him a proper send-off next season if he leaves.”
Another suggested how he believes the Korean captain should be used in his final season: “He has earnt the opportunity. Having said that, I think he will work best as an impact sub similar to the way Pep used De Bruyne in his last season. We will need another captain. Cristian Romero is the obvious choice if he stays. If not, Pedro Porro?”
Other fans were not too keen. One said: “Great servant, a legend, but even Son will know when it is time to move on. He does not have the legs, lost a bit of pace. We need to look to the future. No time for sentiment. It is the club we love. Players and management are temporary.”
Another chimed in: “Love him but think it is time to move on, he has lost that yard of pace and just all round not as good, cash in and use money to buy a long-term replacement, wages will free up big signing also… go out on a high Sonny.”
Still others felt he deserved a place in the team, saying: “Very happy as he is going to do well under Frank as an inside forward rather than a touchline winger under Ange.”
One more added: “Happy he is a legend. He can stay until he is 65 for all I care.”

Son transfer fee and Spurs contract situation
With Son 32, and turning 33 in a week, it is clear that the Korean forward is getting along in age, and with just 12 months left on his contract, this summer does present the best opportunity for Tottenham Hotspur to cash in on the forward.
It is claimed that a fee in the region of £30 million is being considered by clubs in the Middle East for Son, which, of course, would be decent value for a player in the age bracket.
While it was previously reported that Thomas Frank has given the green light for Son’s sale, it remains to be seen what the outcome of the new meeting will be.
