SpongeBob: Krusty Cook-Off has suddenly arrived for the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5, and players can pick it up now. Though the game was originally a mobile title, this version of SpongeBob: Krusty Cook-Off removes the microtransactions in favor of a more traditional progression system.
While SpongeBob fans on the Sony family of consoles are likely happy to get their hands on another title featuring the titular character, it’s not the end of SpongeBob celebrations for 2025. An upcoming brand-new SpongeBob game will land later in 2025 from THQ Nordic, bringing players back under the sea for one more adventure.

It may sound as farfetched as a hydro-dynamic spatula with port and starboard attachments (and turbo drive), but SpongeBob is ready, and can deliver.
While that title is still a ways off, SpongeBob: Krusty Cook-Off is available now for PS4 and PS5 via the PlayStation Store. The title is described as a “fast-food cooking game,” where players create their own Bikini Bottom kitchen, which they can customize and decorate, while the main gameplay is cooking grub from the SpongeBob TV show. Familiar faces from the series will make an appearance as customers, like Patrick Star, Squidward, and others, and additional outfits are available for the SpongeBob SquarePants series characters. The game has “none of the grind” of the original mobile title, with the kitchen decorations, costumes, and gear unlocked via progression. Additionally, the PlayStation version of the game comes with four unique power-ups.

Players who want to dive right in can pick up the game for $14.99 on either PS4 or PS5. However, the game is also available on other platforms. The Android and iOS versions are still available for free, albeit with microtransactions enabled. The Nintendo Switch version of SpongeBob: Krusty Cook-Off is also available for $14.99, which was curiously shadow-dropped just like the PlayStation version back in 2021. The Nintendo Switch version also notes it comes with four exclusive power-ups, so players have a range of choices depending on what system they’d like to play on. The Nintendo Switch version is also compatible with the Switch 2.
SpongeBob is seeing a modern video game resurgence that largely kicked off in 2021 with the release of the remake of Battle for Bikini Bottom. Since then, the series characters have been included in a number of titles, like Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl, Minecraft, and Fall Guys. SpongeBob also got an all-new adventure in 2023 in the form of SpongeBob SquarePants: The Cosmic Shake, as well as SpongeBob SquarePants: The Patrick Star Game in 2024. With another brand-new game in the franchise still on the horizon for 2025, players can keep themselves busy while they wait with the release of SpongeBob: Krusty Cook-Off.
