A new report has shed light on what Thomas Frank thinks about Manor Solomon but also points to reasons why it may be difficult for the Dane to keep the Israel international at Tottenham.
At the start of the summer, it seemed like a foregone conclusion that Solomon would leave Hotspur Way this summer.
Several reports backed Leeds to make a permanent move for Solomon on the back of his outstanding loan spell at Elland Road, but those rumours appear to have gone quiet over the last month.
It was also suggested a few weeks ago that Scott Parker wants to take Solomon to Burnley, but there has been no concrete development regarding the winger’s future.
Manor Solomon wants to stay at Tottenham
Just a few days ago, Alasdair Gold claimed that Tottenham are likely to cash in on Solomon this summer, but that is far from certain, according to a new update.
Leeds Live have now claimed that the expectation at Spurs is that Solomon will be at Hotspur Way at the start of pre-season.
This is because Thomas Frank wants to take a closer look at the winger during pre-season before deciding whether to keep him or not.
The outlet states that the 25-year-old would prefer to remain at Tottenham but there remains a possibility that the Lilywhites will move him on later in the summer.
Two factors which make Solomon’s stay at Spurs unlikely
LeedsLive point out that given Tottenham’s shortage of homegrown and club-trained players, registering Solomon for the Champions League squad would be problematic for the club.
Additionally, it is revealed that any fee that Spurs get for the winger will go down in the club’s accounts as pure profit for PSR calculations since Tottenham signed the player on a free transfer two years ago.
With these factors working against Solomon, the former Shakhtar Donetsk man will have to do incredibly well in pre-season to convince Frank that he is worth keeping.
