Walker will join the newly-promoted side on a two-year deal as he departs the Etihad Stadium following an eight-year spell.

He had been tipped for a summer transfer away from Man City after being left out of their Club World Cup squad.

The right-back spent the second half of last season on loan at AC Milan, but the Italians opted against signing him permanently.

talkSPORT has previously reported interest from Everton and Jose Mourinho’s Fenerbahce had made an offer.

But it now seems Walker will be heading to Turf Moor instead.

Burnley were promoted back to the Premier League last season after finishing second in the Championship behind Leeds United.

Manager Scott Parker has been bolstering his squad all summer, with Marcus Edwards, Bashir Humphreys and Zian Flemming signing on permanent deals.

Loum Tchaouna, Quilindschy Hartman, Max Weiss and Axel Tuanzebe have also joined the club as they aim to compete in the top flight.

And now, Walker, whose Man City contract runs out next year, looks set to be the latest new face in a real coup for the club.

Parker played alongside Walker for Tottenham between 2011 and 2013, with the pair now reuniting as player and manager.

Walker will be sure to add plenty of experience to Burnley’s squad for the tough upcoming season.

He has over 400 Premier League appearances, starring for Man City and Tottenham in the top flight.

Walker has the third-highest number of games in the Premier League throughout his career out of all active players.

Only James Milner and David De Gea have more.

The 35-year-old defender has also won 17 trophies throughout his successful career so far.

Walker won’t be surprised by his exit though, after revealing that Guardiola gave him a full farewell before his loan to AC Milan.

“When you come to say goodbye, it’s hard,” Walker said on his podcast about his loan spell in Italy.

“After I said my goodbyes, Pep got up and spoke and said a really nice message to me, just saying thank you for everything.

“But listen, it’s not over, I’m just on loan here [AC Milan]. I’ve got to take into consideration that I can go back.

“Obviously, both parties need to come to an agreement by the end of the season. Listen, the chapter’s not fully closed, but we’ll see what happens.”

Walker didn’t want to confirm whether he’d be heading back to Manchester to continue playing or not.

But now, it seems that chapter has indeed ended and he’ll be playing in claret and blue in the Premier League next season.

Burnley’s first pre-season game comes on July 26 as they take on Huddersfield Town, with Walker potentially involved.

Their first top-flight game of the campaign will come against one of his former clubs, away at Tottenham.

He will reunite with Man City on September 27 at the Etihad.
