If you purchased a video game from GameStop online within the last five years, you might be eligible for part of the multi-million-dollar settlement.
GameStop customers may be entitled to a payment as part of a class-action settlement filed in New York State.
According to the lawsuit, Alejandro Aldana and Scott Gallie v. GameStop, Inc., the company shared online customers’ personally identifiable information to Facebook via the Facebook Tracking Pixel without consent, violating the Video Privacy Protection Act.
To be able to submit a claim, you must have purchased a video game from the GameStop website between Aug. 18, 2020, and April 17, 2025. At the time of the purchase, you must have also been a member of Facebook and maintained a public Facebook profile using your actual name.
The last day to submit a claim form is Aug. 15.
If the court approves the settlement, GameStop will offer a cash payment of up to $5 or a voucher of up to $10 for use on its website.
The hearing to consider the settlement’s fairness is scheduled for Sept. 18, 2025.
If the court approves the settlement, and your claim is approved, you will receive either the cash or voucher 45 days after the settlement has been finally approved and/or any appeals process is complete.
