Club want to use ‘trump card’ to sign Tottenham player amid transfer standoff

Tottenham Hotspur and Rosario Central have a major stumbling block to overcome to sign off on a deal for Alejo Veliz, but the Argentine club believe they have one major trump card on their hands to get a favourable agreement.

It was reported a few weeks ago that Rosaria Central want to re-sign Veliz from Spurs, two years on from selling the centre-forward to the North London club.

However, over the last few days, reports from Argentina have indicated that Racing Club de Avellaneda had moved into pole position to land Veliz and have been locked in negotiations with the Lilywhites for the 21-year-old.

This information has now been contradicted by the latest updates coming out of the South American country, which suggest that the Spurs man is more likely to end up at his former club.

Rosaria Central want to use their trump card to land Alejo Veliz

Pagina 12 and Soy del Millo both claim that Rosaria are now in direct conversations with Thomas Frank’s men over the striker, but the two clubs do not agree on the structure of the deal.

According to Pagina 12, Rosaria’s management travelled to London last week to present a loan offer for Alejo Veliz, but that has not been accepted by Tottenham Hotspur, who prefer a permanent sale.

However, the Spurs youngster has made it clear that he wants to move to his former club and Rosario are hoping to use this as a ‘trump card’ to get their hands on the centre-forward, who is doing ‘everything possible’ to seal a return.

The club are currently trying to convince Tottenham that the best thing for the Argentine player would be to be loaned back to his former stomping ground for one season so that he can get his career back on track.

Veliz does not want to play for any other Argentine side apart from Rosario

Soy del Millo claim that Racing Club de Avellaneda have now withdrawn from the race to land Veliz after learning about the striker’s transfer preference.

The Tottenham man has made it clear that he will only play for Rosario if he decides to move back to his home country.

If Spurs are not able to strike a deal with his boyhood club, Veliz will continue playing abroad rather than returning to the Primera Division.
