A busy route will shut for six weeks while the final phase of five-month-long gas works are carried out.
Penenden Heath Road in Maidstone will close, with drivers travelling from Sandling Lane, off the Running Horse Roundabout, and Bearsted Road off the A249 diverted.

The works being carried out by SGN form part of a wider project in the area to upgrade old metal mains with new plastic pipes.
Rolling closures are in place as engineers progress.
Currently, the south side of Boxley Road is shut until July 20, while the third phase is being completed.
A spokesperson for SGN confirmed the street will reopen before the utility company closes Penenden Heath Road.

Drivers will not have access to the route from July 21 for six weeks.
Penenden Heath Road adjoins the recreation ground and car park, as well as Faraday Road, Heathfield Avenue and Heathfield Road.
The spokesperson said: “We may need to close some side roads if there isn’t enough room once we’ve dug down, so we have traffic orders in place just in case.
“Our project web page will be kept updated if anything changes.”

“All going well, this phase will end on approximately Monday, 1 September.”
The 28-week-long scheme began in February along Sandling Lane at its junction with Boxley Road, but had overrun with drivers facing “chaos” using the town centre route.
Work then progressed onto Boxley Road, where it joins with Sandling Lane and Neville Close until April 20.
Days later, engineers moved onto the road’s intersection with Penenden Heath Road and Rock Road.

Speaking to KentOnline previously, Dan Brown from SGN said: “The pipes here are reaching the end of their useful lives and it’s essential we replace them to ensure Maidstone homes and businesses continue to receive a safe and reliable gas supply.
“We appreciate roadworks can be frustrating for road users, residents and businesses.
“However, this work is essential to keeping everyone in Maidstone safe and warm.”
