Xbox Game Pass has added Ultimate Chicken Horse to its library. This is the fourth new title to reach the service in July 2025, as well as the 84th new Xbox Game Pass release since the turn of the year.
Developed by Canadian studio Clever Endeavour and first released in 2016, Ultimate Chicken Horse is a party platformer where players take turns placing platforms and obstacles, building a level that they are simultaneously trying to survive. The best outcome for any single player is to build a path that’s passable—but only by them. This concept makes every round a chaotic test of timing and ingenuity, rewarding creativity and affording hilarity. The overall execution resonated with critics, as reflected in Ultimate Chicken Horse‘s “Strong” rating on OpenCritic, based on an average score of 79 and a 78% reviewer recommendation rate. The party game also boasts over 37,000 “Overwhelmingly Positive” user reviews on Steam.

Ultimate Chicken Horse made its way to Xbox Game Pass earlier today, July 3. While its Xbox console version materialized all the way back in December 2017, this is the first time ever that Clever Endeavor’s party game is available on Microsoft’s subscription service. Since it’s not a day-one title, Ultimate Chicken Horse can be played via any of the full-fledged Xbox Game Pass tiers: Standard, PC, and Ultimate.

Ultimate Chicken Horse expands the selection of compelling local co-op experiences on Xbox Game Pass, joining the likes of Kingdom Two Crowns, It Takes Two, and Unravel Two. While its main Party mode doesn’t have a single-player option, it’s possible to experience Ultimate Chicken Horse solo via its Free Play, Creative, and Challenge modes. However, the game was primarily designed for multiplayer, so even joining a random lobby is something most players will find preferable to going at it alone.
Sci-fi action RPG The Ascent and cozy management sim Minami Lane are the next two titles set to debut on Xbox Game Pass, being scheduled to arrive on July 8 and July 9, respectively. Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4 will then have a day-one release on the service on July 11.
The next key date for Microsoft’s subscription catalog is July 15, notable for three developments, including the departures of half a dozen Xbox Game Pass titles, as well as the arrival of the eccentric sci-fi first-person shooter High on Life 2. Finally, that’s also the day when Microsoft is expected to announce the second wave of July 2025 Xbox Game Pass releases.
