Originally launched on Meta Quest, Soul Assembly’s VR co-op survival shooter Drop Dead: The Cabin will be making its way to Steam this October as a standalone game. Not only that, but the game will sport expanded 4-player co-op, full crossplay support and optimized performance. To add even more fun to the Halloween season, Drop Dead: The Cabin will have a demo available during the October Steam Next Fest ahead of its full release.
Described as a “love letter to classic 1980s horror,” the game immerses players in a fog-shrouded forest cabin, once home to the twisted scientist Dr. Monday, whose experiments have unleashed a deadly horde of undead abominations. Now, the forest is crawling with monstrosities, and the only thing standing between you and certain death is your skill, your weapons, and your ability to work as a team.
You’ll need to fight to keep the power running, the lights on, and the comms active. Let the systems fail, and the undead become faster, deadlier, and harder to see. Every decision matters. In solo or online co-op, teamwork is key. Stay together or split up to complete critical survival objectives. Use the environment to your advantage and fight with precision to survive the night.

Players will need to scavenge for weapons, ammo, and fuel to maintain power and communication systems, which are crucial for survival and successful extraction. Each run offers a unique challenge with randomized enemy spawns, resource locations, and objectives, ensuring no two sessions are the same. It’s all set against a stylized world inspired by classic horror films, complete with neon-lit visuals and a synth-heavy soundtrack.
