James Maddison has found a permanent way to remember Tottenham’s Europa League triumph – and it is right on his leg.
Tottenham would be heading into the 2025/26 season as champions of Europe, following an unforgettable Europa League campaign that saw them lift the trophy after edging Manchester United 1-0 in a tense final.
James Maddison had been instrumental throughout the tournament, with the midfielder producing standout performances in the round of 16 against AZ Alkmaar, the second leg of the quarter-final versus Eintracht Frankfurt, and the opening leg of the semi-final clash against Bodo/Glimt.
Although fitness issues ruled him out of the second leg against Bodo/Glimt and the final itself, his influence across the tournament had already left its mark.
James Maddison gets Europa League tattoo after Tottenham win
With James Maddison unable to feature in the final of the Europa League due to injury, that did not stop him from fully immersing himself in the post-match festivities, even pulling a John Terry by turning up in full kit for the celebrations.
Now, over a month after the night in Bilbao, the 28-year-old has taken things a step further by getting a tattoo of the Europa League logo inked onto his right foot, commemorating Tottenham’s Europa League continental glory in style.
Maddison is not alone either. Brennan Johnson, who scored the only goal in the final, also recently showed off his own Europa League tattoo while away with the Welsh national team during the international break.
Spurs badge, Thomas Frank and Super Cup ambitions
As they head into the new campaign, Tottenham will sport a Europa League winners badge on their sleeves in the UEFA Champions League, instead of the standard Champions League logo.
With Thomas Frank now at the helm, the hope is that he can take the momentum built under Ange Postecoglou and push the club even further, with the Europa League triumph serving as a strong foundation for what is to come.
There will be another shot at silverware in August, when Tottenham face UEFA Champions League winners Paris Saint-Germain in the UEFA Super Cup final in Udine, Italy – an opportunity for Frank to deliver right at the start of his reign.
