Tottenham and Man United show ‘strongest interest’ in £26m Italian midfielder

Tottenham Hotspur have reignited their interest in a Serie A midfielder after his price tag dropped significantly, but they face competition from one of their Premier League rivals for the player.

It has emerged over recent days that signing a central midfielder is one of Thomas Frank’s top two Tottenham priorities this summer.

Earlier this year, it was reported that Tottenham were keen on landing Inter Milan midfielder Davide Frattesi, whose future at the San Siro was said to be unclear.

Then it emerged again at the start of last month that Fabio Paratici was keen on taking Frattesi to Spurs after the Italy international had fallen out with some figures at Inter.

Tottenham and Man United both want Davide Frattesi

A new report in CaughtOffside has claimed that Inter have now decided to drop their asking price for the 25-year-old amidst interest from the Premier League.

The report claims that the Nerazzurri were initially demanding €50m (£43.3m) for the former Saussolo man but are now willing to accept just €35m (£26m) for his services.

The outlet states that Spurs and Man United are ‘showing the strongest interest’ in Davide Frattesi, with the Red Devils even reaching out to the Serie A club to enquire about the conditions of the deal.

The midfielder is also thought to be on the radars of both Atletico Madrid and AS Roma, who are keeping a close eye on the situation.

Davide Frattesi has not made up his mind

While Inter have signalled a willingness to sell the player, there have not been any formal talks, negotiations, or offers made so far.

Fratessi has not communicated a desire to leave to the San Siro hierarchy yet despite the club’s move to slash his price tag.

It is claimed that the 25-year-old is currently taking time out to work out whether he wants a new challenge, with clubs now ready to pounce on him if he gives the green light on a transfer.
