Trigger Happy Interactive has decided that their upcoming Survival Horror FPS Total Chaos needs a bit more time to cook. And as such, the game is being bumped from its original July 24 release to a more nebulous Q4 2025 release window. However, the consolation is that the demo is still very much available for you to get a taste of what’s to come.
“Total Chaos isn’t just a game, it’s a descent. A personal one. Every shadow, every sound, every silence has meaning,” explains Total Chaos developer and head of Trigger Happy Interactive, Sam Prebble. “This delay gives me the time to ensure that the journey into Fort Oasis is as haunting and unforgettable as it needs to be. The island will be waiting… and it won’t let you leave unchanged.”
Originally conceived as an award-winning total conversion mod of DOOM II in 2018, Total Chaos has been significantly reimagined and expanded into a modern standalone experience, amplifying its chilling atmosphere and relentless tension for a new generation of players.
The atmospheric nightmare that is Total Chaos blends different eras of survival horror hallmarks, featuring classically inspired resource management, methodical melee combat and gunplay, haunting visuals, and grotesque environments and creatures.
The story sees players assume the role of a Coast Guardsman who has washed up on the shores of Fort Oasis, a long-abandoned mining colony consumed by decay and an eerie, inescapable presence. A lone voice crackles through a walkie-talkie, beckoning him deeper into the island’s rotting ruins. But as hallucinations grow stronger and reality bends, the question lingers… is something watching, or is the horror all in his mind?
Total Chaos will launch on Windows PC via Steam, with SteamVR support arriving shortly after launch.
