FLAGSTAFF, AZ – Herb Clah Jr. has been appointed Executive Director of Human Resources for Navajo Nation Gaming Enterprise (Navajo Gaming). Clah brings more than 25 years of executive and senior-level experience in human resources management, much of it with tribal governments and enterprises.
“We’re thrilled to have Herb Clah Jr. join our executive team,” said John James, CEO of Navajo Nation Gaming Enterprise. “Herb’s deep experience, cultural insight, and strategic HR leadership will be a tremendous asset to Navajo Gaming. His dedication to our people, and his understanding of both the operational and community sides of our enterprise, make him an ideal fit for this critical role.”
Over his career, Clah has led HR teams for several tribal and private organizations, including executive roles with the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community, Gila River Indian Community, and Tohono O’odham Nation. Most recently, he served as HR Director for more than eight years with the Utah Navajo Health System (UNHS) in Montezuma Creek, UT. During that time, he also contributed to Navajo Gaming’s growth as a member of its Board of Directors.
As Executive Director of Human Resources, Clah will oversee enterprise-wide HR strategy including workforce planning, recruitment and retention, employee development, performance management, and compliance. He will focus on building a strong, engaged workforce that reflects Navajo values while supporting the continued growth and operational excellence of the organization.
