Spurs are weighing up their attacking options this summer, but which of their reported targets had the most productive Premier League campaign last season? We have crunched the numbers on Tottenham targets Mohammed Kudus, Eberechi Eze, Antoine Semenyo and Bryan Mbeumo to find out.
Over the past few weeks, Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with four Premier League wingers – Mohammed Kudus, Eberechi Eze, Antoine Semenyo and Bryan Mbeumo – as they look to bolster their attack this summer.
Antoine Semenyo remained a target for Tottenham until it was revealed that Spurs were not willing to meet Bournemouth’s asking price for Semenyo.
A reunion between Thomas Frank and Mbeumo was on the cards until reports stated that Mbeumo only wants to join Manchester United.
Eze has been linked with Tottenham way beyond this summer window, but reports this time suggested that Spurs were keen and that Eze was also open to a move to N17, though it has since emerged that Arsenal are now ahead in the pursuit of the Crystal Palace winger.
With Spurs still looking to bolster their attack, fresh reports now suggest that Tottenham have accelerated talks for Mohammed Kudus as they hope to secure the services of the West Ham man on a cut-price deal rather than paying his £85million release clause (€100m).
Given all the links, we now want to compare the performances of each forward in the just concluded Premier League season, to see which one is the best performer.
Goals and assists – Eberechi Eze vs Bryan Mbeumo vs Antoine Semenyo vs Mohammed Kudus
In terms of goals and assists in the last Premier League season, one player is the outright winner in that metric, and that is Bryan Mbeumo of Brentford.
The Brentford man notched an incredible 20 Premier League goals in 38 appearances in the league last season. To put that into perspective, only three players outscored the Cameroon international – Haaland (22), Salah (29) and Isak (23).
Bryan Mbeumo Stats (Premier League 2024-25) | |
---|---|
Appearances: | 38 |
Goals: | 20 |
Expected goals (xG): | 12.26 |
Scoring frequency: | 171min |
Assists: | 7 |

Amongst Tottenham’s targets, the second best in terms of goals is Semenyo, who scored 11 in 37 games, then in third Eze, with eight goals in 34, while Kudus comes in last with five goals in 32.
In terms of assists, Mbeumo and Eze are joint top, as they both grabbed eight in the Premier League last season, while Semenyo comes in second place with six and then Kudus ends in last place once more with three.
Bryan Mbeumo leads the way for Spurs transfer targets
Analysing match fitness and being available across a 38-game season, once more, Mbeumo comes top, as the Brentford man played in all 38 games, clocking in at 3,417 minutes, starting all games and missing out on none.
Semenyo, on the other hand, comes in second, as the Ghanaian international was in the starting eleven 36 times for Bournemouth, was substituted in once and missed a game due to suspension, playing 3,210 minutes.
In joint third, we have Eberechi Eze and Mohammed Kudus, as both wingers played the same amount of minutes – 2,603 in the Premier League – although Eze played two games more.
Of course, Mohammed Kudus featured less last season because of his suspension after picking up a red card against Tottenham, which saw him miss three games. Interestingly, the winger never missed a match because of injury, as he was injury-free all campaign.
However, Eze was the one most affected by injuries, as he missed three games because of a hamstring problem last season. He started 31 games and was used as a substitute three times.
The best winger option for Tottenham based on underlying stats
Of course, based on these tiny bits of statistics, Bryan Mbeumo is the outright best option for Tottenham, as he is a proven goalscorer with 20 last season, can pick out his teammate as no other player had more assists, and he is also less of an injury risk given he played 38 out of 38 games last term.

---|---|---|---|
Right Winger | 32 | 14 | 7 |
Centre-Forward | 6 | 4 | 1 |
Right Midfield | 2 | 2 | 1 |
Second Striker | 1 | – | – |
In second, we have Semenyo, who also has the numbers to back up his claim, scoring the second-most goals and picking up the second-highest assists. It is also important to note that of the four players, Semenyo is the second most versatile, as he was used in five different positions, playing across the front line and delivering goals and assists in each role.

In third and fourth place, it is neck and neck between Eze and Kudus. For one, Eze has the numbers to back up his claim as he had 16 goal involvements compared to Kudus’ eight.
Eze, however, is more susceptible to picking up the odd injury here and there, while Kudus stayed injury-free last season.

Tottenham target, Mohammed Kudus, was also part of a West Ham team that struggled for most of the season, scoring 46 goals, which was five fewer than Palace. The Hammers winger was also deployed in more positions than Eze, Semenyo and Mbeumo, making him the most versatile of the four players, with most of his goals coming from the left wing.
