Tottenham now face significant challenges in their pursuit of Kyle Walker-Peters, with several Premier League sides showing interest in the full-back while a European club are now ready to make advances towards the Spurs academy graduate.
It has been widely reported that Spurs are eyeing a move to re-sign Walker-Peters to address their lack of homegrown numbers ahead of their return to the Champions League.
The Lilywhites’ chances of winning the race for the 28-year-old were boosted last week when it emerged that Walker-Peters had signalled an intention to return to Tottenham.
According to various reports, Spurs have already held talks with Walker-Peters regarding a return to N17, but it now turns out that the Lilywhites may still have work to do to get the deal over the line.
Besiktas set to battle Tottenham for Kyle Walker-Peters
According to a report in Football Insider, Besiktas have now entered the race to sign the England international after missing out on their top target Bright Osayi-Samuel, who looks set to join Birmingham City.
Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is said to be an admirer of Walker-Peters and is now keen on taking him to the Istanbul giants. In fact, it is alleged that Besiktas are now ready to table a lucrative contract offer to the full-back.
They are hoping that the offer of Europa League football would help persuade the former Tottenham Hotspur man to make the switch to Besiktas Stadium, with the Turkish club entering the competition in the second qualifying round next month.
Three Premier League clubs also keen on Walker-Peters
While Football Insider make no mention of Tottenham at all in their report, they say that Everton and West Ham are making efforts to land the right-back.
Additionally, it is asserted that Fulham are also keen on winning the race for Walker-Peters, with Marco Silva wanting to bring a right-back through the door at Craven Cottage.
The publication adds that it is now an ‘open race’ for the Spurs academy graduate, which perhaps indicates that no club has pulled ahead so far.
