A town centre is set to get an Indian restaurant in place of a nightclub.
Restaurateur Luthfur Rahman has applied for planning permission to open a new restaurant, called Marsala Banks, in Bank Street, Maidstone.

The premises is behind The Stag pub and was previously occupied by the Banks Cocktail Bar and Club.
The building is Grade II listed, and although it has an 18th-century facade, the timber-framed building dates from the early 1600s.
It has stood empty since the closure of the bar in October last year.
Mr Rahman proposals include a 146-cover restaurant with seating over two floors.
He plans to retain a staff flat on the premises and the terrace at the rear of the building, which has an extensive rear footage behind a comparatively small front facade.
