Brighton star pictured in Tottenham Hotspur shirt in new social media message

Brighton’s young striker Georginio Rutter, who had an impressive first season at the Amex Stadium last term, has posted a very interesting picture of himself on social media donning a Tottenham kit.

Rutter and Archie Gray both left Leeds United last summer after their loss to Southampton in the 2024 Championship play-off final, with both players moving for the same £40m fee. The former joined the Seagulls and the latter made the switch to Spurs.

The pair have both had impressive debut seasons in the Premier League, with the striker scoring eight goals and providing five assists for the South Coast side while Gray managed a total of 46 appearances for Tottenham.

Spurs’ versatile youngster featured in the Europa League final for the Lilywhites and followed up that medal with another one a few days ago, being part of the England side that lifted the European Under-21 Championship.

It would appear that the former Leeds pair are quite close, as the Brighton man has posted a very interesting picture on social media.

Rutter shared an image of himself wearing the ‘GRAY 14’ Tottenham third kit on Instagram while on holiday, along with a series of other pictures.

The fact that he chose to wear the shirt of another Premier League club may not go down well with Brighton, but perhaps the Frenchman is just supporting an old friend.

Archie Gray has a point to prove at Tottenham Hotspur

Some Spurs are worried that Gray could not even get into England’s Under-21 side regularly, but in the youngster’s defence, not only were many of the players in the squad older than him, but he has never had an opportunity to settle in one position.

He was used like a Swiss army knife by Ange Postecoglou last season, and hardly got too many opportunities to play as a number six, which was his preferred role at Leeds.

Thomas Frank reportedly tried to take Gray to Brentford last summer before Tottenham came swooping for the youngster, and perhaps the Danish coach will have a more defined role for the 19-year-old.
