It led to multiple drivers receiving immediate traffic offence reports after officers seized 10 cars and vans found to be uninsured.

Further reports were issued for no test certificates, road tax, defective brakes, illegal tyres and an insecure load.

One motorist whose car was found to have multiple defects was also arrested after checks identified he was wanted in connection with burglary offences in west Kent.

Sgt. Grant Steele said: “Law-abiding motorists and other road users are put at unnecessary risk by those who flout the law and we are committed to repeatedly targeting illegal drivers to make the county safer.

“In addition to traffic offences, some of those stopped are often linked to other criminality and we are keen to get their vehicles off our road network.

“Our message is simple, if driving an unsafe and illegal car, van or lorry, be prepared to have your vehicle seized, risk it being crushed and face significant fines and points on your licence.”
