According to a report released Wednesday by the Association of Gaming Equipment Manufacturers, suppliers have a significant effect on the global gaming industry. Almost $60 billion is directly attributable to suppliers, according to ‘Impact Analysis: Global Gaming Supplier Industry.”

“The gaming supplier industry continues to be a global success story,” AGEM President and CEO Daron Dorsey said in a statement. “AGEM’s member companies remain a critical source of technology, innovation, advanced manufacturing, economic development and workforce investments within regulated gaming jurisdictions around the world. The most recent economic impact study shows our members are resilient in the face of global challenges and will continue delivering products, technologies and services to customers and consumers alike while remaining invested in the long-term success of their local communities.”

The report said gaming industry suppliers supported about 225,000 employees, including 77,000 direct employees, with $21 billion in wages and salaries, up 11.8% over the prior year.

While the effect of the global gaming industry spans domestic and international markets, Nevada-based companies generated $10.6 billion in direct global economic output and $27.9 billion in total output. Other impact measures include $15.1 billion in total value added, $6.6 billion in wages and salaries and more than 71,000 employees for companies operating in Nevada.

Other insights from the report include:

  • The global gaming supplier industry directly generated about $23 billion in economic output during 2023. Total output reached nearly $60 billion, an 8.1% increase from 2022.
  • Limiting the economic effect to the amount of value added, the total effects, including indirect and induced, were to $32 billion in 2023, up 7.5% from the prior year.
  • Employers paid nearly $10 billion in direct wages to employees, while total earnings throughout the economy reached nearly $21 billion in 2023, up 11.8 %.
  • Direct jobs in the industry totaled more than 77,000.

AGEM has 135 members based in 23 countries, including Ainsworth Game Technology, Aristocrat Technologies, Aruze Gaming America, Bally Technologies, IGT, Konami Gaming, and Scientific Games.

“Impact Analysis: Global Gaming Supplier Industry,” is an independent study commissioned by AGEM and conducted by Nevada research firm Applied Analysis.
