Tottenham have competition from three Premier League rivals in Tyler Dibling race

Former Tottenham Hotspur scout Mick Brown has now revealed that three Premier League sides are battling it out for rumoured Spurs target Tyler Dibling and has offered advice to the Southampton man on who he should join.

It has been widely reported that Thomas Frank’s main focus this summer is on strengthening Tottenham’s attack.

With the Lilywhites looking to miss out on Bryan Mbeumo, sources have indicated that Spurs are currently tracking the likes of Mohammed Kudus, Xavi Simons, Eberechi Eze and Antoine Semenyo.

Tyler Dibling was said to be at the top of Tottenham’s wishlist earlier this summer, but the speculation linking the Southampton winger with a move to N17 has died down a bit over recent weeks, with Spurs seemingly focusing on the names mentioned above.

Tottenham are not one of the front-runners for Tyler Dibling

Mick Brown, who worked as a scout at Spurs for over a decade, and also spent time at Manchester United and Blackburn Rovers, has now named the clubs that are currently vying for the Southampton man’s signature.

Interestingly, he makes no mention of Tottenham, instead naming Newcastle, Liverpool and Crystal Palace as the ones battling it out for the 19-year-old.

Brown told Football Insider: “If Dibling leaves Southampton, he has to be smart about where he goes. “There’s been interest from Newcastle and Liverpool, but if he goes to either of those two it would be as one for the future rather than an immediate first-team option.

“From his point of view, he needs to be playing regular football at this stage of his career. Somewhere like Crystal Palace would be a better move for him. I’m told they’re interested, and would be prepared to offer him more regular football.

“They’re being ambitious after qualifying for Europe and want to improve their squad. So if he’s smart, he’ll look at Palace and what they’ve done with the likes of Eze, Wharton and Olise, and he’ll think he can follow in their footsteps.

“For Palace, I think they’ll believe they can beat other team to signing him, and they’ll be patient with his development while he’s there. The only issue is whether they could afford him. Southampton are asking for a lot of money and it’s putting teams off, so a lot will depend on whether they’re prepared to negotiate his asking price.”

Is Thomas Frank not keen on Dibling?

Based on the fact that speculation linking Dibling with a move to Tottenham has stopped over the last few weeks, one may conclude that Frank is not too keen on the Saints teenager.

Perhaps Spurs’ interest in the England Under-21 was being driven by Ange Postecoglou, with the Australian’s departure potentially putting an end to the North London club’s pursuit of the winger.

According to some sources, Eberechi Eze has now emerged as Tottenham’s top target, and perhaps Dibling’s proposed move to Palace would allow the Lilywhites to swoop for the 27-year-old.
