The people were dispersed, and drug paraphernalia was seized.

A police spokesman said: “We were made aware of a large group of people in the area of Margate Main Sands beach gathering for a suspected unlicensed music event at around 5pm yesterday.

“Officers attended the area, and working with CCTV operators and British Transport Police, worked to disperse the group.

“A number of nitrous oxide cannisters and balloons were seized.”

It comes after recent incidents of violence across seaside towns.

Businesses in Broadstairs suffered damage, and staff were assaulted.

MP Polly Billington (Lab) is holding a meeting to discuss the recent unrest with residents.

It will be held at The Gap, Broadstairs from 3.30pm to 5pm on Friday.

Ms Billington said: “The recent scenes of violence and disorder in Broadstairs were deeply troubling.

“I’ve spoken to local business owners who were left shaken and fearful by what took place. This kind of behaviour has no place in our town.

“It’s vital that residents and businesses have the opportunity to share their experiences directly with the police and make clear what action they want to see moving forward.

“That’s why I’ve called this meeting – to bring the community together, ensure their voices are heard, and work collaboratively on constructive solutions to prevent this from happening again.”
