Amidst rumours that one Tottenham starlet was on his way to Chelsea, news has now broken that the youngster has signed a two-year scholarship contract at Hotspur Way.
There is understandably a lot of excitement at Tottenham Hotspur about Mikey Moore, with many at the club and across European football viewing the youngster as a generational talent.
However, Spurs also have another gem in their academy, who is two years younger than Moore but is already making a huge mark for the club’s youth sides.
The player in question is Luca Williams-Barnett, who scored 19 goals and provided nine assists last season in 20 matches in the Under-18 Premier League last term.
Luca Williams-Barnett signs scholarship contract at Tottenham
John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about Tottenham’s youth sides on his social media platform, Lilywhite Rose, has now revealed that Williams-Barnett has signed a two-year scholarship deal at Hotspur Way.
Interestingly, Wenham shared screenshots of the arguments that he had with some Spurs fans over recent months, many of whom were insisting that the 16-year-old was on his way to Chelsea.
Wenham continued to maintain that Williams-Barnett is happy at Tottenham and will sign a new deal, and it appears that he has now been proven right.
What kind of player is Williams-Barnett?
Williams-Barnett is a very similar player to Moore, having the versatility to play as an attacking midfielder or on either flank.
Like Moore, he has a low centre of gravity and great balance that helps him go past players with ease, and he also possesses great vision and an eye for goal, as evidenced by his goal and assist stats.
Back in April, Williams-Barnett admitted he cannot wait to make his senior debut for Tottenham and score goals in front of the Spurs fans.
