Alasdair Gold has revealed what his sources have told him about Tottenham’s pursuit of Eberechi Eze and whether the Lilywhites are likely to advance their interest in the Crystal Palace star.
We are not even halfway into the transfer window and there have already been many twists and turns from a Tottenham Hotspur perspective, with the club yet to make any ambitious moves so far.
The latest twist involves Eze, who had given the green light to join Tottenham this summer, according to reports last week.
However, over the weekend, Arsenal made efforts to hijack Tottenham’s move for Eze, and there have since been suggestions that Spurs’ interest in the 27-year-old had cooled.
A couple of days ago, journalist Ben Jacobs revealed that Spurs had backed off from a deal for Eze and it has since been claimed by Fabrizio Romano that Tottenham are also eyeing several alternatives to Eze.
Where do Tottenham stand on Eberechi Eze pursuit?
The information provided by Jacobs and Romano has now been backed up by Alasdair Gold, who is the gold standard for reporting about Tottenham.
The Football.London journalist has revealed that his sources at Spurs have confirmed that while the club do hold an interest in Eze, they have not made advances towards the Eagles star.
He suggested that Tottenham’s inaction might be because the England international has signalled a willingness to move elsewhere.
Gold said on his YouTube channel about Eze: “From what I understand, there’s nothing more than interest at this stage from Tottenham. Sometimes when I get told that by various people, it’s because the club have got an inkling that they want to go elsewhere.
“It could just be the finances aren’t quite where they want them to be at this stage of the window, or it could be a variety of things – I’m not saying it’s one of those things.
“Presumably there will be more to it and it will come out in the fullness of time, or maybe that’s just the case for now and they do kick into gear and make a move for him.”
Have Tottenham turned their attention to Mohammed Kudus?
Over the last 24 hours, a number of outlets have reported that Spurs are pushing ahead with a move for Mohammed Kudus.
This includes a report from The Telegraph, which claimed that Spurs are now more likely to sign Kudus than Eze or Antonie Semenyo.
According to various sources, Tottenham can land Kudus for £60m since the Hammers are desperate to raise funds to pursue their transfer targets.
