Everything’s coming up Eevee in Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket’s new Eevee Grove expansion—what better way to celebrate than an exciting deck strategy that syncs up perfectly with all the fun? Combine the powers of Espeon, Sylveon and Sylveon ex to find key pieces and do serious damage with a pair of one-point attackers. This deck isn’t set to be the strongest right out the gate, but at least it’ll be one of the cutest.

Game Plan: The only Basic Pokémon in this deck are Eevee and Eevee ex, so you’ll always start with a Pokémon that you can evolve into Sylveon ex, the main attacker. Ideally, you’ll be able to evolve your first Eevee or Eevee ex into Sylveon ex to take advantage of its Happy Ribbon Ability, which allows you to draw two cards when you play Sylveon ex from your hand to evolve one of your Pokémon. This can help you find additional Pokémon that evolve from Eevee, as well as key Trainer cards that could turn the tide of battle.
Sylveon ex can help draw cards with Happy Ribbon and does a solid 70 damage for Energy, but you’ll need more power if you want to take down Pokémon ex with higher HP pools that can tank two (or maybe even three) of Sylveon ex’s Fairy Wind attacks. Espeon and Sylveon slot in well as secondary attackers under key conditions—since most Pokémon ex need at least three Energy to attack, Espeon can dish out some serious punishment with its Energy Crush attack (which does 20 damage for each Energy your opponent has in play), and Sylveon can secure the KO with its Evoharmony attack if your Bench is filled with Evolution Pokémon.
Including only Pokémon that evolve from Eevee allows you to make best use of the new Eevee Bag Item card. Just like Eevee, this card’s flexibility is probably its greatest strength—you can use it to heal Sylveon ex out of Knockout range or to push for more damage. You can also use two in the same turn to do up to 20 extra damage; combine that with Red and you’ll be doing a monumental 40 extra damage.
A deck focused primarily on the adorable Sylveon ex likely won’t be the strongest out there, but it is uniquely consistent since it offers four Basic Pokémon for evolving. This plus Sylveon ex’s Happy Ribbon Ability make it an interesting archetype for experimenting with a variety of strategies. Good luck battling, Trainers!
