New Yorkers Love Their Consoles But Which One

Gaming is bigger than ever across New York households from kids locked into Mario Kart tournaments to adults unwinding with a little late-night adventure mode. With the release of the Nintendo Switch 2, it looks like we’re heading into a new generation of handheld fun.

What’s New York (and the Nation) Playing the Most?

To mark the excitement of the Switch 2, Vegas Insider looked at the numbers using Google Keyword Planner to figure out which consoles we are googling the most. It covers the last 12 months, using average monthly search volume to rank our favorite systems.

PlayStation Still Reigns Supreme

No surprise here the PlayStation 5 dominates the list, with 2.81 million monthly searches. New Yorkers love their Sony setup, and PS5’s combo of top-tier graphics and exclusive games (hello, Spider-Man)..

Xbox Series X Grabs the Silver

The Xbox Series X, came in with 1.93 million monthly searches. If you’re more about Game Pass, online multiplayer, and that ultra-fast loading time, this Microsoft machine is for you.

Nintendo Still Holding Strong

Even with the new version of the Switch, the original Nintendo Switch is holding its own with 1.84 million searches a month. It’s family-friendly, and endlessly fun making it a top choice for New York families, and college dorms.

Throwbacks Are Trending Too

Some older consoles are getting love, too. The Steam Deck came in #4, with retro legends like the PSP, Nintendo Wii, and the PlayStation 2 pulling decent search numbers. Apparently, we are feeling nostalgic or we are just looking for replacement parts on eBay.

The Least Loved Console?

At the bottom of the list? PlayStation VR, with only 29,500 searches a month. Maybe it’s motion sickness, maybe it’s the price tag—but VR hasn’t quite taken over New York living rooms just yet. So what is your favorite?
