Myst developer Cyan Worlds has announced another round of layoffs just over three months after making half of its workforce redundant.

The studio broke the news on Bluesky. “Hi all—we’re sorry to say that we’ve had another round of layoffs at Cyan,” reads the brief post. “We’ve updated our previously shared sheet to reflect folks still (or newly) looking for opportunities.”

It’s unclear how many people were laid off this time around, but the spreadsheet shared by the company now includes the names of 14 employees who are all currently seeking new jobs.

Back in March, the studio explained it was struggling to navigate the video game industry’s “choppy waters” and laid off 12 employees as a result.

“Industry conditions have forced us into a tricky spot where we are having to weigh the future of our studio against the month-to-month realities of game development in 2025,” it said at the time.

“Throughout the past year, we have been ultra-transparent with the entire Cyan team about the choppy waters we find ourselves in, as well as the dangers ahead. While the news of a layoff was not a surprise to the team, it was (and is) deeply saddening for all of us.”

The company said it would be offering severance packages to those workers impacted by the cuts.

The video game industry has been decimated by studio closures and layoffs in recent years.

Major companies such as Don’t Nod, Build a Rocket Boy, Riot Games, The Chinese Room, Zynga, and Sony all reportedly made layoffs in June 2025— continuing a debilitating trend that has become a mainstay in development studios around the world.
