Mikey Moore has opened up on having to sign an initiation song last year in front of the entire Tottenham squad and staff, with the winger revealing that he had a contrasting experience to Lucas Bergvall.
As is the case at many other clubs, the players who come into the Tottenham first-team are expected to sign an initiation song, which is a rite of passage at the club.
While players usually tend to do it during their first away trip, newcomers to the squad during the summer are asked to do it in pre-season.
That was exactly the case with the likes of Moore and Bergvall, who were asked to sing to a large audience during the club’s pre-season tour of South Korea last year.
Mikey Moore reveals Tottenham initiation song choice
Moore and Dane Scarlett answered questions posed by Junior One Hotspur members in a press conference on the Spurs’ YouTube channel.
The 17-year-old admitted that he was very nervous when captain Heung-min Son suddenly asked the youngsters in the squad to sing their initiation song in a restaurant in Korea 12 months ago.
He confessed that his initiation went more smoothly than it did for Bergvall, describing the Swede’s performance as “terrible”.
Moore said: “So it was in a restaurant in Korea, I think and all of a sudden you know you’re about to sing when you hear the glass get tapped. “It might have been Sonny and then I was thinking ‘oh no’ and he said ‘Mikey, Archie, all the new boys’ and you have to go up and sing.
“We had to stand at the front of the restaurant with all the staff, all the players and I chose Adele ‘Someone Like You’ to sing. I went a bit out there but it ended up working because they could join in with that song. It ended up going all right, to be fair. Lucas Bergvall was terrible!”
Bergvall admitted last year that he sang Abba’s ‘Dancing Queen’ and was “booed afterwards” by his teammates.
Moore reveals Heung-min Son is not a fan of his hair
Mikey Moore and Scarlett were also asked which Tottenham teammates they would swap hairstyles with, and both of them quickly named Radu Dragusin.
The teenage attacking midfielder confessed that he gets a lot of flak for his hairstyle, particularly from Son.
Moore responded: “Radu. He’s gone that long, big bun. If I could grow hair like that, I would choose him. He’s scary as well! Sonny hates my hair; he thinks it’s terrible.”
