While Palworld‘s Tides of Terraria Update put particular emphasis on the Terraria crossover content, which consists of a new dungeon, several new Pals, and two new bosses, there were quite a few other changes in this update. One such change was the introduction of a proper mission system, allowing players to earn rewards by helping out various NPCs throughout the islands. These rewards can include food, Palspheres, and all kinds of other useful items, but in one specific case your reward is a new ally.
The ability to add Zoe and Grizzbolt to your team in Palworld (without resorting to glitches) was added in the Tides of Terraria update, though it’s only mentioned as a bullet point in the patch notes. Zoe serves as the first Tower Boss in the game, putting up quite the challenge with her Grizzbolt’s assortment of electrical attacks. Many of their attacks are AOE cone or radius attacks, which can be tricky to avoid without good timing and an eye for details. Fortunately, as recruitable allies, Zoe and Grizzbolt retain many of these attacks when fighting on your side.
The addition of a mission chain to recruit Zoe makes it likely that other Tower Bosses will become recruitable in future updates, though Zoe’s missions make it clear that the process will be involved and require the completion of several missions in each case. Lily and Lyleen will probably become the next recruitable ally, though there’s no way of knowing for sure.

Palworld: How To Use The Global Palbox
The Global Palbox has arrived to Palworld, giving players the long-awaited ability to transfer Pals to different worlds. Here is how it works.
Step 1: Defeat Zoe at the Rayne Syndicate Tower

Before you can get started on recruiting Zoe to aid you, you’ll need to defeat her in her boss fight at the Rayne Syndicate Tower. Since you’ll be directed to do this as part of the tutorial, it shouldn’t take too long to accomplish. The Rayne Syndicate Tower can be found at the location shown on the map above, and it’s recommended that you reach level 20 before trying to take her down, especially if you’re taking her on alone.
She battles atop her Grizzbolt, who attacks with an assortment of high-damage electric attacks. This includes a homing ball lightning attack and an AOE shockwave. Luckily, it’s also very weak to Ground attacks, so if you bring along a Ground Pal, or at least a Pal with a Ground attack, you’ll have a much easier time handling this boss. You can catch Rushoar fairly easily without traveling too far from the Tower, which is a decent choice for this.
Step 2: Find Zoe at the Desolate Church and Take on her Quest

Once you beat Zoe in the boss fight, you’ll need to find her at the Desolate Church, which can be found at the spot shown on the map above. She’ll give you a mission called “Don’t Get Cocky.” You’ll need to speak to her again with a Grizzbolt as your active Pal to complete this mission. You can catch Grizzbolt at Wildlife Sanctuary #1, which is in the southeast corner of the map. Since it’s on an island, you’ll need a rideable Pal that can either swim or fly if you want to make it over there safely.

Additionally, since intruding on the Wildlife Sanctuary is a crime, the area is patrolled by PIDF troops, who will mark you as wanted and attack if they spot you. Once they’ve aggroed on you, they’ll give chase until they kill you or until you kill them. This, paired with the lack of fast travel points on Wildlife Sanctuaries, means that you’ll need to prepare well before you set off to track down a Grizzbolt.
When you return, she’ll be surprised to see that you actually did it and begrudgingly admit she respects you for it. Clearing this mission also rewards you with a decent chunk of EXP, so bring along a few underleveled Pals to give them a boost if possible.
Step 3: Attack the Free Pal Alliance

As her next task for you, Zoe needs you to take out some members of the Free Pal Alliance. Luckily, the Free Pal Alliance tends to roam the area north of the Desolate Church, making them pretty easy to track down. We recommend heading northwest until you end up at the Bridge of The Twin Knights, and then heading straight north. This will put you in Free Pal Alliance territory, where you can find groups of them roaming and even encounter their camps on occasion.
You’ll need to take out five members of the Free Pal Alliance to clear this step of Zoe’s quest, either by defeating them or by catching them, and defeating them shouldn’t be much of a challenge by this point. A level 20+ Pal with a decent attack stat can take them out in no time at all. Once again, this quest gives you a healthy amount of EXP, so you can use it to boost up some Pals if you bring them along.
Step 4: Retrieve Zoe’s Memento
After proving yourself by fighting the Free Pal Alliance, Zoe will be willing to trust you with something personal. She wants you to track down an old memento at the ruins nearby. If you track the mission in the menu, it’ll show you exactly where to go. The closest Great Eagle Statue is the Fort Ruins. You’re looking for a slightly tattered blanket lying on the ground inside the ruins, matching the story Zoe told you when you started the mission.
Returning this item to Zoe will convince her to join you and see where your journey leads, causing her to join you as an ally once the mission is completed. Strangely, she’ll still appear as an NPC at the Desolate Church even after you’ve recruited her, likely to avoid issues in multiplayer.
How do Allies Work in Palworld?

While Zoe is currently the only ally in the game, it’s likely that other Tower Bosses will become recruitable in future updates. Zoe and Grizzbolt join you as a single unit, functioning identically to a Pal in all respects. This means you can call them out and recall them, and that they cannot be active at the same time as one of your Pals. This also means you can give them commands, and even assign them to a Base to do all the things a Grizzbolt would normally do around your base.
Aside from Zoe riding on its head, this Grizzbolt functions identically to a normal Grizzbolt in terms of stats and Work Suitability. It does begin with the Electric Ball attack, however, which isn’t usually an attack Grizzbolt learns by leveling up, and allows it to fire a homing electrical ball. This move is also used by Grizzbolt during the boss fight, and is very accurate due to its strong homing properties.
