Just as the reports were intensifying about a possible Tottenham offer for Eberechi Eze, journalist Ben Jacobs has provided an update regarding Spurs’ plans that will leave their supporters infuriated.
According to various reports, Tottenham have already abandoned their pursuit of Bryan Mbeumo, who has made it clear that he wants to move to Man United.
It was subsequently reported that the Lilywhites were set to accelerate their efforts to land the Crystal Palace star, with some reports even claiming that Tottenham were prepared to meet Eberechi Eze’s £68m release clause.
The same update claimed that Thomas Frank is convinced that the Eagles man is the ideal fit for his side, while the 26-year-old is keen to be part of the Dane’s project at N17.
Tottenham have backed off from Eberechi Eze pursuit
Over recent days, some Tottenham fans have been begging for Daniel Levy to wrap up the Eze deal, but they may end up disappointed.
It has now been revealed by journalist Ben Jacobs that while Spurs’ interest in the England international is genuine, they have backed out from the move over the last few hours.
When asked about Tottenham’s pursuit of Eze, Jacobs told talkSPORT: “My understanding is that Tottenham have actually backed off in the last few hours, and although the interest is genuine, it is nothing more than that.”
Which other attackers are Spurs eyeing?
While the Eberechi Eze update will disappoint Tottenham fans, multiple outlets have made it clear over the last week that the Palace star is just one of many attackers that the North Londoners are eyeing.
Spurs also hold an interest in Mohammed Kudus, Antoine Semenyo and Xavi Simons while Brighton pair, Kaoru Mitoma and Joao Pedro have also been mooted as targets.
With pre-season fast approaching, Tottenham fans are desperate to see the club make a statement signing or two at the start of the Frank era.
