Teen attacks brother for loudly playing video games in shared bedroom

A Summerfield teen was arrested for battery after attacking her brother while he played video games and recorded it live on social media.

Deputies responded to a physical disturbance at a home in  Summerfield, around 10:50 p.m. Wednesday, according to an arrest report from the Marion County Sheriff’s Office. Upon arrival, he met 19-year-old Angilique Rivera who advised that she and her brother share a bedroom inside the residence.

Her brother was loudly playing video games, so she went to sleep on the couch in the living room. She went back into the bedroom to grab personal items when they got into a verbal altercation. Her brother was recording live on social media using his phone during the altercation, and this upset her.

Rivera proceeded to knock his phone down from the prop it was set up on. She then left the bedroom and cut the power off to the house. She went back into the bedroom where her brother continued to record the incident on social media, the report said.

At that point, she smacked his phone out of his hand and lunged at him. He put her in a chokehold, and she screamed for him to get off. Their grandfather heard this happening and came into the bedroom to break up the altercation, the report said.

In doing so, he was struck in the face by her brother. Their grandfather stated the strike was unintentional. He was struck during the physical altercation between Rivera and her brother, while she was trying to hit him, the report said.

Her brother described a similar incident as Rivera. He advised that he grabbed her and held his arms across her body to stop her from fighting him. She bit his right arm while he had her in this hold. Indeed, a deputy noticed a mark consistent with a human bite on his right bicep, the report said.

Rivera was subsequently arrested on charge of simple battery (domestic). The Pennsylvania native was transported to Marion County Jail to be held without bond.
