Quote graphic for Part 6 of our Thomas Frank Series — questioning whether Wilson Odobert will deliver at Spurs under Frank’s system. |
🔍 THBN Introduction
Good morning, folks and welcome back to the blog that stands out amongst the dross.
My friendly seagull is looking through the patio door, wanting to know what scraps might be coming out to feed him.
If I put the crumbs out from the suet balls, which the discerning birds insist must be the Premium quality, they only eat the cheaper ones afterwards, the seagull eats the crumbs.
It is a constant battle to feed the birds and not the pigeons and seagulls but these pigeons are intelligent creatures and find a way.
Anyway, onto Spurs and a continuation of The Thomas Frank Series.
Wilson Odobert joined Tottenham Hotspur from Burnley in August 2024, touted as one of Ligue 1’s most exciting young wingers.
However, his first season in North London was disrupted by a long-term injury, stalling his development and limiting him to flashes of promise rather than consistent end product.
Now, with Thomas Frank’s arrival, Spurs fans are asking — is Odobert physically and mentally ready to repay the faith shown in him?
And does his playing style fit the high-intensity, efficient Brentford blueprint Frank will surely bring?

2. 🧩 Fit Under Thomas Frank
Thomas Frank’s system emphasises structured pressing, quick transitions, and efficient use of wide players.
Odobert’s pace and work rate align with these principles, but his end product needs improving.
Strengths:
-
High work rate and defensive contributions (31 tackles show he can fit Frank’s style)
-
Ability to stretch defences with pace (takes full-back on 1v1)
-
Willingness to press and track back
Areas for Improvement:
-
Finishing: Conversion rate needs to improve from 7.7%
-
Decision-making in the final third
-
Consistency in delivering quality crosses
3. 🎯 2025–26 Season Projection
Assuming Odobert adapts to Frank’s system and earns regular playing time:
-
Appearances: 25–30
-
Goals: 4–6
-
Assists: 3–5
-
Key Contributions: Increased involvement in pressing sequences and transitional play
4. 🧭 THBN The Final Word
Wilson Odobert possesses the raw attributes to thrive under Thomas Frank’s guidance.
With focused development on his end product and decision-making, he could become a valuable asset in Spurs’ attacking arsenal.
Now let’s cover a topic. fans want the club to buy ready-made players, but people are not generally buying these players these days; everyone is now buying youth. Look at Chelsea.
Daniel Levy saw this was the way to go years ago and implemented it once; now we have doubled down and have been implementing it again for the last couple of years.
Postecoglou was brought in because that’s exactly what he does. He shifts old guys and replaces them with youth to win trophies.
Once that is done, you are just ensuring the conveyor belt continues.
Thomas Frank will be backed in the same way, and he will have agreed to that before he took the job, so any talk of Levy not backing a manager is just clueless fan talk.
tt’s an appalling time for my eyes at the minute.
The last week has been particularly bad, having to use a magnifying glass to read text messages.
The sugar levels need bringing down again, and the eyes will improve, well, one of them.
Nothing I can do about the scratch impairing vision in the other eye, hence why it is pointless for me to attend games, I wouldn’t be able to see the ball, and the players would just be blurs.

No waffle. No ads. Just the stats, notes, and gut calls on the five forwards who could define the Frank era at Spurs.
