Enzo Maresca‘s men started with a comfortable 2-0 win over LAFC before losing 3-1 to the Brazilian side.

Nicolas Jackson was sent off in that match, making it a game to forget.

The Blues haven’t qualified for the next round yet and must not lose here if they want to seal a place in the knockout rounds.

Tunis vs Chelsea: Team news

Liam Delap made his full debut in the 3-1 defeat to Flamengo, and he is probably going to start here.

Jackson is suspended after being sent off, giving Delap a chance to stake his claim as the club’s number one striker.

Noni Madueke was dropped to the bench, so he will be looking to get back into the team, while Romeo Lavia is another who will hope to start.

Tunis vs Chelsea: What has been said?

Maresca has said it’s been ‘impossible’ to train at the Club World Cup amid 100F weather in Philadelphia.

The Blues players trained at Subaru Park, the home of local Major League Soccer (MLS) side Philadelphia Union, yesterday with temperature conditions topping out at 45C.

“This morning’s session has been very, very, very short,” said Maresca, adding that “otherwise you don’t save energy for the game”.

“It’s been just about tomorrow’s game, planning for tomorrow, and that’s it. No more than that,” the Italian added.

“As you can see, it’s not easy in these conditions with these temperatures. We are going to try to do our best.”

Maresca will rest a number of players against Esperance de Tunis on Tuesday, with Reece James among those likely to sit out.

“Tomorrow we will do some rotation because the ones who played two games are quite tired to play again,” said Maresca.

“So we will make rotation and we will see if there is a chance for those who haven’t played as much.

“Reece, the reason why (he didn’t train) is because he is ill. Levi Colwill has also been ill in the last two days, but today was better and part of the session.”
